AIBU to not search for my gift online?

I celebrated by birthday recently. We are abroad so DH said he didn't get me a gift because he wanted to get me a handbag but couldn't find one that he thought I would like in the local shops where we were on holiday. He promised to get me one when we got back home. About two weeks after returning he sent me a link to etsy website for me to search for a handbag gift for myself. I've never bought a handbag online before. I can't get my self to start the search as I find it odd to be searching for my own gift. AIBU?

I think this is a very “it’s completely dependent on the individual” type problem. Some people wouldn’t like it, some people it would be their dream to pick something they love and know exactly what they’re getting.

Can you just talk to DH if you have a problem with this? I don’t think the varied views you’re going to get on here about what different people feel about this, will be all that helpful in solving your issue.

You feel how you feel about this. That’s valid. How others feel has no bearing. You’re not being unreasonable to not want to search online, and to want DH to choose your gift etc. Just because others might feel differently doesn’t change the validity of those feelings.

Happy belated birthday and I hope you find a gift you love ❤️

I wouldn't mind at all. Most men don't use handbags, so he's probably not sure what to buy.

I always choose my own presents as my DH has bought some disasters in our 36 years together so this way I choose, he pays, I am happy.

Why are you hanging back, I would've found one I like by now and sent him the link. Much rather choose my own than end up with something not my style. You seem oddly unsure about something that's perfectly normal, is anything else going on..

Is it that you want to feel like he has chosen it? Could you ask him to send you a couple that he likes and then you pick the one best suited to you?

Thanks all for sharing your views, some of which I hadn't thought about. There's always a first time , so will try and stop being old school and get shopping. 😊
