To be heartbroken for this poor baby?

To lose her entire family at the moment she is born. To spend her first hours on earth cold, alone, in pain. To be born in the middle of an unprecedented natural disaster in a region afflicted by the most terrible grinding war.

This poor little girl 😭

I don't think anybody is going to say YABU for feeling sad about this (maybe voting anonymously though, just because).

GiltEdges · 08/02/2023 12:29

I mean… objectively, it’s a very sad situation, but she’ll also never remember the family she never knew. Hopefully she’ll go on to live a happy life.

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 08/02/2023 12:31

I’m so disillusioned with all the awful events that seem to be going on in the world at the moment.
It’s just unthinkable!

gogohmm · 08/02/2023 12:33

I just pray she can be a beacon of hope among such devastation, that she lived when so many including her mum passed away. Not sure if there's close family but I'm sure there's a family who can love and cherish her. Poor kid, but she's just one of so many young lives whose futures have been disrupted.

x2boys · 08/02/2023 12:37

It's tragic of course
But it's also a Miracle that she was found alive .

Mariposista · 08/02/2023 12:44

I would happily have her on the first military plane over here, adopt her and give her all the love and care she deserves. And I'd tell her her miracle story, talk about her birth family and keep their memory alive, especially that of her brave mother.
Poor little mite. I hope she will be ok.

RaininSummer · 08/02/2023 12:50

Very sad. I found it odd that people were thanking God for saving her but not blaming him for the tragedy in the first place.

Snugglemonkey · 08/02/2023 13:08

I cried reading about that poor baby. I hope she goes on to have a good life.

Paturday · 08/02/2023 13:10

Amazing that she lived, was found, and luckily won’t remember a thing. But yes very sad.

Notjustamum10 · 08/02/2023 13:24

It is impossible not to feel moved by this. BUT she is one of the lucky ones, there are probably many more babies and children still trapped (as well as grown adults) so if you can, please donate to one of the rescue charity appeals - Red Cross, International Rescue Committee, Islamic Relief - are all there, helping to fund and organise rescue teams.

Conkersinautumn · 08/02/2023 14:08

It is objectively shocking and could easily be distressing. Unfortunately in a situation such as this it is this sort of story that gets attention - when it would probably make more sense to use reporting time to promote what needs doing and can be done. There are so many 'competing' compelling stories of the horror humans are going through. I must admit I steer clear of this sort of journalism.

Sirzy · 08/02/2023 14:10

As with so many things from this it is shocking BUT at least she will have no recollection of anything and will hopefully end up in a loving home.

there are thousands of others who have been through the same sadly and many of the children who have survived will be aware of just what they have lost.
