To ask about 11-12 weeks miscarriage

I think I’ll have one (11.5 weeks)… I have heavy bleeding and some cramping, somewhat period like pressure in lower abdomen and back. Been to emergency unit but they didnt see any signs on ultrasound, however my symptoms got much worse.

Please tell me in detail what happens when you have a mc at this stage. Lots of pain? Do you see the embrio? I’m so terrified of the unknown… would you rather have the mc at home or in hospital?

I'm sorry for what you are going through, please contact your local EPAU or ED if you are unable to cope with the pain or bleeding. For those saying insist on a scan or D&C - it simply doesn't work like that. Overnight or on weekends there is sometimes absolutely noone that can do a pregnancy scan. So insisting will get you nowhere. Likewise going to theatre, unless it's an absolute emergency and the woman is in danger of bleeding out you don't just go. You get put on a booked or 'emergency'list which often isn't the day that you initially present. Good luck anyway

I’m so sorry. I MC a lot earlier at 6 weeks so my experience won’t be relevant but I just wanted to send my love and thoughts

Emmamoo89 · 06/02/2023 23:32

Know how you feel. Hope you're okay x

How are you now, OP?

Pesimistic · 07/02/2023 10:32

I miscarried at 11weeks 6 days after bleeding over a period of a week that gradually got worse, it wasn't realy painful, nothing like birth if you have been through it before, some pins and needles feeling in your cervix and mild cramping and pressure. Bleeding and clots tail off when you pass the pregnancy, for me I passed the sac (looks like a marbled blood clot) about the size of a tennis ball.

@Namechange1234456677 How are you? I hope the bleeding has stopped.

OP how are you doing? I had bleeding a lot with my first pregnancy in weeks 4 to 14 but DD turned out just fine. It was like I was having a regular period, that amount of blood for four or five days each month. When they delivered the placenta (she was born at 37 weeks) they said there was evidence of a lost twin. I then went onto have two miscarriages, one at 11 weeks and no bleeding, baby just died and I had to have an operation. Other miscarriage was about 9 weeks. Neither of the MC involved lots of blood, it is odd looking back on things out of my three pregnancies that the one that had the most blood - my DD is about to turn 18 and is beautiful and healthy.

In case it is relevant I am O negative so anyone with negative blood needs to make sure if they get bleeding to get the relevant injection to stop the antibodies rejecting the (potentially blood positive) child or any future child.
