...repeatedly, despite your obvious lack of interest. Like a toddler proudly showing you the contents of their potty.

Cant say it happens to me!🤷‍♀️

SouperNoodle · 04/02/2023 15:43

Have you tried telling them that it makes you uncomfortable and you don't want to hear it?

Jimboscott0115 · 04/02/2023 15:43

Can't say this is common in my experience and those who talk about it the most are generally exaggerating anyway.

We all have our kinks but no need to openly discuss it with all and sundry unless looking to shock someone.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 04/02/2023 15:49

Yep, I had to ask a guy to lower his voice in the pub the other day by saying I hadn't consented to participating in his butt plug kink. He didn't even blush, just lowered his voice and continued 'sharing' with his date, who looked bored rigid.

My friend's sister is younger and thinks it's a hangover from dating apps, where people are straight-up about their kinks and preferences - now it's just bleeding into everyday conversation. Can't think of anything duller.

My only experience of this has been common or garden heterosexual women in monogamous relationships with common or garden heterosexual men giggling about Fifty Shades of Grey and using it as inspiration for being “naughty” in the bedroom. I’ve never read the book but I’ve had it described to me so many times that I feel as though I have.

We avoid BiL because during and since his divorce we have heard much, much more about his various kinks, fetishes, use of prostitutes and the difficulties of maintaining a string of sugar babies than we would like.
DH (it’s his brother) is actually a bit traumatised by it all and the aftermath for ex SiL and their DC has been horrendous as a lot of it is public knowledge in their small village.
In response to a PP, no we don’t all have kinks, and IMO, being interested in other people’s is a kink in itself.

We all have our kinks
Nah. We really don't.

@ComtesseDeSpair Did you mean garden-variety, or is garden a typo? Or slang I’ve never heard?

Johnnysgirl · 04/02/2023 16:11

Common or garden just means ordinary, run of the mill.

RicherThanYews · 04/02/2023 16:16

Eurgh, YANBU op. Unless I walk into a group specifically designated for kinks to share glory stories, I do not want to hear about how Neil likes to be penetrated with a little finger every other Tuesday.
