To ask you to tell me why I can always smell foist/damp?

I can ALWAYS smell a smell of damp or foistiness. Like when something is in the washing machine for too long. Sometimes strong sometimes mild. Not just at home - today in the shops, when out and about. It’s my clothes now and again, but mostly it isn’t and no one else can smell it. What’s going on?!

I'm the same but it's the smell of drains for me. Every time I walk in my front door. But no one else can smell it!!!!!!

I’m really paranoid I have a smelly house and I’m just less nose blind than everyone else!

Im slightly hard of hearing and Lara kid that my other senses are more alert. And that people say when they see me “oh god here the woman who smells of dirty washing coming this way” 😂

Have you had covid? That can seriously mess up your perception of smell long term

Not recently, I had it in August 2021 and couldn’t smell for 4 months after! Half deaf and not being able to smell, that was a fun Time 🤣

Well I had it last year and only lost sense of smell completely for maybe a week but then I had a few weeks of smelling what can only be described as putrid exhaust fumes on and off everywhere.

Everything back to normal now apart from coriander tastes rank like soap and I used to love it.

I had something like this. Could smell celery every time I went out and it had been raining. Lasted about three weeks. Was a few months after I had covid. Not sure if related

GriddleScone · 03/02/2023 22:41

My friend had that problem when she was a child. Turned out that she had stuffed sponge up her nose and it was beginning to rot.

Sinus infection or blocked sinuses.
That's when I get weird smells.

This!! Honestly I've had covid 3x and my sense of smell and taste was lost the first time round for months and has come back in various annoying ways.
I cannot stomach the smell of garlic in even tiny amounts, I seem to smell it everywhere it makes me feel sick.
I also can't am constantly picking up revolting smells that other people can't smell

Look up parosmia. I definitely got this after Covid. It's better now but not completely back to normal.

Google Neti pot.

If you say it's sometimes your clothes, that's probably the reason.
