Are TAs, Learning support staff and sencos striking tomorrow?

Is it just teachers striking tomorrow or are TAs, LSA and Secos striking too?

DS is in school tomorrow as he has an ehcp and I'm wondering who will be in school to look after him and the others going in. Most will be learning on-line though I'm not sure who will be setting work as I thought those not striking weren't meant to cover striking teaches work.

Ps totally in support of teachers striking by the way. 👍

I believe it's teachers only; at least that's the case here in Scotland. Support staff still go in.

Pretty sure his 1:1 ta would be in

harrassedmumto3 · 31/01/2023 23:56

And we wouldn't get paid if not!

Thanks - hopefully his TA will be in and not covering teacher's work etc.

Would the senco be in too? Or are registered as teachers? Only that I need to talk to her about something too - don't want to be contacting her if she is striking.

SENCo ought to be a teacher.

Still, not all are striking, but if it isn't crucial it is tomorrow, probably leaving until another day might be helpful.

Quite a lot of our support staff will be off tomorrow as they need to cover childcare where their own children's schools are affected. Half of the support staff in my unit won't be in, plus our MDS.

raspberryrippleicecream · 01/02/2023 00:28

Also, if you are in Wales, support staff can strike

VashtaNerada · 01/02/2023 00:43

In England only NEU teachers can strike but anyone can choose not to cross the picket line and then lose a day’s pay. Lots of support staff at my school have chosen not to come in. The Head must feel fairly confident there’ll be someone there for him though otherwise they wouldn’t have decided to open.
