i’ve been offered a job more in my field Its a little bit of a commute but will pay off eventually. They have asked me to start next Tuesday.

im due in work today and tomorrow so I am planning on handing my notice in today with immediate effect. I feel bloody awful as they’ve just trained me up but obviously I need to make the right choice for me.

Im going away tomorrow evening flying at 8 and I am due in work at 7 in the morning it is such a long day. 2 school runs and have to drop kids at both grandparents. Then drive to the airport etc!

AIBU to not work tomorrow? Or should I just suck it up. I think majority of my day tomorrow is training too so their isn’t much point. But I’m feeling very guilty about it 😩

I think if you are still in training, they may well want you to leave straightaway. Yes, it’s unfortunate but explain it as you have here and it shouldn’t be a problem.

Crumpetdisappointment · 31/01/2023 09:24

how come the new job wants you to start so quickly?

Mrshermit · 31/01/2023 09:30

@Crumpetdisappointment I’ve known since Friday but been going back and fourth in my head since then.

Tbh I wouldn't bother going back, I'd take the week for myself (I work in management so know how very annoying this would be) but I really would just have a week for myself 😆

PaddyDingDong · 31/01/2023 09:54

I wouldn't just not turn up. Turn up, explain straight away, hand notice in formally and ask them what they'd like you to do. I was on a course once when a colleague left half way through the 5 week course to take another job offered. No one minded and everyone wished her well.

Yes this is what I’m going to do, hopefully she will be ok with it. Feel bloody awful about it though. Even though they will have replaced me by next week 🤣

Sorry OP have you had your first day the the ‘first’ new job? Couldn’t tell from your OP!

Mrshermit · 31/01/2023 10:07

@TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl yes been there just over a week now.

There's no point going back. You'll be wasting your time and theirs.

Mrshermit · 31/01/2023 10:33

@charlertin I know but their is only one other person in this evening so I’m not going to let them down.

What did you choose to do, @Mrshermit?

Your thread title bears no resemblance to your OP.

Mrshermit · 31/01/2023 19:57

Handed my notice in, now I’m wondering if I made the right decision as I was just starting to enjoy it. Maybe I let DH opinion get into my head too much! Oh well
