Nothing on the day as I refuse to pay the premium just because my birthday falls on Valentine’s Day!

It used to be bad on Valentine’s Day but as it falls on a Tuesday this year, everywhere nice relatively local to us including hotels, restaurants etc are doing Valentine’s Day “packages” read premium overpriced the weekend before the day of and the weekend after.

Im moving my birthday - but appreciate not to December - AIBU?!?

Try having one on Boxing Day, or like my ex Christmas Day. Then thank your lucky stars

eatsleeppaddle · 30/01/2023 17:55

At least you have a birthday every year! I only have one every four years and whichever cheeky sod suggested my birthday as the one to skip to catch up time, thanks a lot!

But @eatsleeppaddle you are only 25% of the age of your peers so you’ll live for way longer 😜

@BertaHoon I did say I would avoid December for my new birthday date!

I'm not aging well and I'm not sure many of my friends and family will make it to my 21st!

Yeah, boxing day isn't good. DS is starting to realise this too (9).

Mine is 16 feb and gifts are ''two in one'' with V day.

Ponoka7 · 30/01/2023 18:01

I used to have up to three birthdays. One with my children and one with my mates, then another at the weekend. When my Birthday falls on Mother's Day, I'd just throw another one in. Just move it to when it suits.

Dogsgottabone · 30/01/2023 18:01

Me too OP. But I love it, always have.

My mum always gave me heart shaped chocolates and it always felt super special.

I don't do birthdays now I'm middle aged, but when I was younger I loved it.

NewName2023 · 30/01/2023 18:03

Ah when I was teenager - the answer to the question “how many cards did you get on Valentine’s Day?” Was always a smug honest answer!!!!

I think the spreading of VD is what’s irked - it used to be the day of, then the closest Friday and Saturday. Now it’s the week! It’ll be the month before we knot it
