to think changing your entire face in the quest of femininity is futile

A simple, yet thought provoking question. If you are genuinely a woman, AIBU to think spending thousands of facial surgery to convince others you are a woman is an unnecessary mission?

(IMO, the only exception to this rule would be, if one wasn't in fact a woman. Then the desire to completely change your face would make sense to me.)

Do you mean men getting plastic surgery to look more like women (how is that even possible? How could I (male) go to a plastic surgeon and say "make my face more female" - what does that even mean anyway?!)

YANBU, I find it all ridiculous and wearisome, that's just my personal opinion on the matter though.

UWhatNow · 28/01/2023 20:21

I know the news story you’re referencing and they still look like the sex they are. Albeit with very pretty make up and a nice frock. The whole ideology is flawed and as monstrous as that bloke who has tattooed his his whole body and chopped his ears off to look like an alien lizard man. You don’t look at him and think ‘alien lizard man’ - you just think ‘oh dear.’

Rainbowshit · 28/01/2023 20:23

All that money spent and still looks almost identical.

CanStopWillStop · 28/01/2023 20:30

As my previous two threads on this topic were swiftly deleted, I just want to stress that this is a general question, absolutely not in relation to D M* in any way.

I agree. If you want me to accept that you are female, broaden the definition of feminine features to include yours. Don't try and hide the expression of your DNA while simultaneously insisting that it's irrelevant.

hereiamagainn · 04/05/2023 21:44

I don’t really understand the reason for your question.

If you mean why do trans women bother to have surgery, I expect the answer is that it isn’t enough to “know inwardly” that they are a woman, they want to be known publicly as such, and surgery is one way to help make that happen.

Seems pretty obvious though to me?

LetDownDog · 04/05/2023 21:46

I was thinking about that alien man the other day. I bet he's really interesting and I have no problem with him at all. I have no problem with anyone wanting to identify as anyone or anything. If you want to believe you are a tree, that is cool with me! As long as people are nice and kind I like pretty much anyone

BUT ... I don't think anyone should force their identity on others. So no, a man identifying as a dog cannot enter a greyhound race. A woman identifying as wallpaper can't sell themselves in B&Q. A man identifying as a woman, cannot enter sports competitions in the female category, cannot enter woman's only spaces, and cannot use female toilets. I am all for people being and doing whatever they like, but not when their idiology or beliefs impact and are forced on others

LetDownDog · 04/05/2023 21:48

Related to my above post - I couldn't care less if a trans person wants to have surgery. That's up to them. They can do what they like to themself. I don't see it as a problem. But if transman thinks looking like a woman will allow them to enter woman's only spaces etc.. then that's where it becomes not ok...imo

They shave your bones to soften and "feminine" the features and obviously shave your Adams apple

Hoppinggreen · 04/05/2023 21:53

Well I believe it’s called “feminisation” surgery and I think it can make a Transwoman look a bit less masculine in some cases and if done well.
However, they will still be a Transwoman and are likely to look different to people who were born as women, at least outside of photos etc

lifeturnsonadime · 04/05/2023 21:59

I know OP you are on about Dylan.

Dylan who is such a good woman they had an audience with the president after a few months of being one.

Dylan who is the face of kitchen aid, and numerous other add campaigns.

Still has the 6 o'clock shadow.

It makes a mockery of women that we should pretend this doesn't happen. If mumsnet HQ is deleting posts like this , why? Who are your target audience? Is it women or is it men who think that they are women?

Enough already. It's bullshit.

I have been to several Ladyboy shows back in the early 2000s when it was a big thing. The Ladyboys of Bangkok toured The UK a few times.
They did look amazing on stage but in the interval you could go and have photos with them and believe me they were obviously men when you got close enough
