It’s the IPSO guidelines. The press need to push back.

lyson · 28/01/2023 07:49

I think I would happily break those guidelines.

What's the law at the moment?

Yes I can't stand it. I will use preferred pronouns in a respectful manner (even though I don't subscribe to gender woo) but not when it refers to this shit.

hryllilegur · 28/01/2023 07:59

I would imagine that several editors are intending for the (as expected in the guidelines) pronouns use to feel so egregious to enough readers that they get angry and complain about it.

All this crap about using ‘her penis’ and so on really hammers home the absurdity of the whole thing. It stops looking like some fluffy ‘be kind’ thing and starts looking like a problem.

Drawing attention to it all is helpful. People realising that they are expected to think ‘she raped the victim with her penis’ is exactly the sort of thing that will provoke a ‘fuck that for a game of soldiers’ response.

I hope you're right.

I feel that the tide is turning, slightly, I hope!

It’s going to take a while for all the rules round this stuff to be unwound now the whole farce of gender ideology has been revealed. Although who would have thought Nicola sturgeon would be so involved in its downfall. Maybe she’s played a blinder and been planning this all along as a double agent???

The Scottish Sun, in covering the trial of the rapist formerly known as Adam Graham before the verdict (on 17/18th January) very deliberately put "HER penis" with the pronoun in capital letters.
