My daughter is about to sit leaving cert in Ireland.
She would like to go to UNI or a TU.
Deadline is coming up.
I emailed career guidance teacher( there are two ) to see what needed to be done at our end, she said that my daughter had nothing done yet and that we needed to do everything ourselves.
I sent in all her reports for educational psychology/ language exemptions etc when she joined the school. They don't seem to have them now.
I'm so pissed off.
I thought that the whole idea of career guidance was to guide the pupils with third level/ careers/ apprenticeships etc.
All I see is one link after another being sent out via school app.
Now ignorance is no form of defence by all accounts but not one meeting / reminder/ advice briefing about the applications system and deadline seems shit.
What exactly do they do nowadays?
Back when I was in final year ,The CG teacher did it with us and helped us gather documents and write personal statements.
When I said all of this to her, bar the ' what do you actually do!' bit, she nearly exploded.
I had heard that she was shite at her job but for FFS .....
