Me and DH both work full time, one nearly 2yo and one 4yo, and are coming up to an exhausting few months where we’ll be moving country and trying to get set up, and I just know our diets are going to go to shit.

Please can I ask for your help with a ‘never fail’ evening meal for small children that isn’t just oven chips/other beige stuff?

Lunches and breakfasts are fine, but aside from pasta pesto (with peas and mozzarella) I need a list of ‘reasonably healthy dinners the children will definitely eat’ just to get us over the next few months. Any ideas?

Beans on toast
smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast
pizza
pasta and tomato sauce with brocolli
fish fingers, chips and peas
salmon and steamed green vegetables
Potato wedges and veggie chilli (mild)
chicken and broccoli pesto pasta
salmon or ham, peas and soft cheese pasta (melt the soft cheese into the pasta as a sauce)
they don’t eat much meat!

tuna pasta, tuna sweetcorn - sauce milk flour butter cheese
pasta bake
nuggets chips and beans
Noodle stir fry - noodles, chix , veggies splash of soya sauce

most food in our house comes with cucumber (could take shares out in it) so
makes it as healthy as it’s going to get

Pizza wraps
Pasta bake (tuna and cheese, tomato and veggies etc)
Frittata
Cheese, tomato and broccoli or cheese and ham croissants (pop in oven to melt the cheese)
Omelette
Noodles
Falafel in pita or wraps

All easily served with cucumber, breadsticks, carrot, dip/hummus etc.

Cheesy omelette and chips/wholewheat toast fingers and some kind of fruit or veg (just add grated cheese to a whipped egg then fry)

Sweet potato wedges with fish fingers and peas. Just peel a sweet potato, chop into small wedges, drizzle with oil and put it in the same tray as the fish fingers - cooking time about the same.

Mash, gravy and veg - DD loves this! Or mash with grated cheese and tuna and some greens. In fact mash with anything goes down well here.

Pasta or rice with canned salmon, grated cheese and sweetcorn/peas/broccoli

If I really don’t have time then toast with peanut butter, a chopped banana and yogurt. Or a bowl of porridge with blueberries/strawberries
