Do not buy from Wayfair

Can I report Wayfair to trading standards or take legal action.
I purchased a dining set with table and six chairs. was supposed to be in stock and delivered two weeks ago. Now they say they can’t deliver and are trying to say it is a mistake on the listing and it’s only the table ( £1600 which was 49% sale ) For a table they themselves are selling for much much less.
they seem to be incompetent, disinterested and verging on scam artists!
I have reported them to PayPal buyer protection.
can you report them to trading standards?
they have all my money and you can’t get customer service to do anything. I would recommend no one buy anything from them!!

Wayfair are a dropshipper. They don’t actually hold stock themselves - they literally act as a third party advertising, processing sale, collecting monies and processing refunds. Their customer care really won’t have a clue about listings (vendors do them themselves) - PayPal claim is probably the quickest way to deal with it.

As I and previous posters have said your best bet is social media

Crikeyalmighty · 24/01/2023 19:23

@Nogg I would be very pissed off too

SunsetStrip · 24/01/2023 19:29

I've never had a problem with them. I know you're frustrated but this is an overreaction.

TheLette · 24/01/2023 19:32

Have you got a screenshot of the incorrect product page? If not take one if it's not too late.

Nogg · 24/01/2023 19:36

Yea I have a screen shot ! Not too late they are still selling the same set for delivery next week! Charlatans!

Yes sorry I was slightly annoyed when I was typing it.

How do you get the CEO email and do they ever respond?

I’ve reported them to PayPal to charge back the amount if they don’t resolve through their buyer protection.

You can Google it usually.
There are a few websites like ceoemail.com and rocketreach where you can get business email addresses or even on LinkedIn sometimes.

I've had to do it with IKEA twice and both times had a very quick resolution. One was an undelivered product and one was a product that collapsed after three uses (but was over a year old).

Fire on all fronts. Socials, email, PayPal.
Loads of business will assume that you'll give up and your negative testimonial will barely be a drop in the ocean to them. Don't roll over and take it if you can back yourself up..

Krakenes · 24/01/2023 19:39

I’ve had a great experience with them. Ordered a shower hose and after a couple of years it broke. Emailed them and they sent out a new one free of charge.

I think you’ll need to take it apart to send it back, I’m not sure how they can return it otherwise. The drivers won’t be able to dismantle for you.

Nogg · 24/01/2023 19:44

There is no way I can dismantle it it’s very heavy . I’m sure two delivery men could do it but I can not . I’m on my own so no help.

Tenuouslink · 24/01/2023 16:20

How do people like you cope in the real world.

Just wait for them to collect and get a refund like any other normal human being would

They’re not scam artists, or conning you.

Oh here you are again being shitty @Tenuouslink 🙄

365names · 24/01/2023 19:56

As advised demand the email of the ceo or Google them etc and hunt it down - explain the situation

Demand the chairs and compensation for being messed arlund

or they pick up the assembled table and refund and compensate

TheLette · 24/01/2023 19:59

I'd keep going then. If the description is clear and they have failed to deliver they are in breach of contract as well as the Consumer Rights Act. If they can supply the chairs separately (because there is a separate listing for them and they aren't out of stock) then I don't understand the blocker. Keep insisting.

Just to reassure you, I always now use PayPal to pay if it's an option. I have opened a dispute with 2 different suppliers in the last year via PayPal and got my money back both times.

First one was Everton football club, ordered a present and paid for next day delivery, it never turned up. Asked them for a refund and they refused to refund the postage just for the item. They were terrible. Got that back.

Just eat sent an order wrong, £12 of items missing. They credited my account when I asked for a refund and refused to do anything about it. So ended up getting the money back via PayPal and the credit on my just eat account.

Both times it took about 2-3 weeks so I would open a dispute now. Seems a black and white case in your favour I would say.

If something hasn't arrived within 30mins you can just dispute the cost online through your banking app and get it refunded. It's not that hard nowadays to get your money back.

TinyTinyHamsterBalls · 24/01/2023 20:23

*30 days not mins

coolcahuna · 24/01/2023 20:24

I've just had a nightmare returning something to wayfair, gave up in the end and kept it.

Have you tried asking them to refund the table to the price they are selling the table on its own for. Then you could buy the chairs from elsewhere?

Nogg · 24/01/2023 20:29

Thanks I can but the tables and chairs elsewhere. Others will give a discount for buying the whole set so I won’t just pay for the table .

Also the table and chair set was on sale that’s why I bought it from the them but the table they are charging full price.

it’s stressing me because I have moved house and had a whole house to furnish and I don’t have a lot of spare cash for them to keep hold off £1600 for weeks while they faff about and muck me around.

Nogg · 02/02/2023 21:02

Just to be fair to Wayfair and update. I did manage to get it sorted and receive my chairs. A manager managed to sort it out so it ended well.

Good news!

Nogg · 02/02/2023 21:14

Yes feel a bit bad slagged them off so much!

OP posts:
TheCave · 02/02/2023 22:18

Tbf it sounds like it took way too much effort to resolve with a lot of fighting on your part when they were trying to fob you off! I wouldn't feel bad at all.
