How long after a job offer would you expect to hear more

Early last week I had an interview. Went well and they called me after a few minutes to offer me the job.

I’m returning to the job market after a pause and I guess it’s expected to hear something a bit sooner?

Sorry this makes no sense. Did you accept the offer? Is it something where you'd need checks done to make sure you're ok before you start? Once I'd accepted a job offer I'd probably wait a couple of weeks before I enquired as to why I hadn't heard anything further.

Sorry, wondering whilst cooking. Not the best typed.

I accepted verbally on the phone, very short call. I’ve been self-employed or just done agency work for a long long time so I have no idea of how things work. On the phone I should have asked, but I was caught on the hop when they called so fast. I didn’t think or process it, I was still in the stage of interview nervousness. They called to offer the job 3-4 minutes after the interview ended.

Standard checks maybe for a right to work, but it’s not with vulnerable people or anything. Office

So now you ring them and ask when you can expect an offer in writing

I always ring people the same day/next morning to make an offer but HR take ages to sort paperwork. It's not posted anymore but easily still a week or so. Given it's coming up for the weekend not unreasonable to drop them a line. Enjoy your new job!

Thank you, it’s a big business.
I’m trying to balance coming across as annoying vs asking in a timely manner. I have been so long out of employment I’m like a school leaver
