Has anyone experienced this and can tell me what would happen next? TRIGGER WARNING sexual abuse

I was sexually abused as a child for years by an uncle. Groomed and then exploited for a long time. My mental health since has been horrendous and is ruining my life. Recently I have wanted to make him ‘pay’ for the abuse and subsequent mental health issues. I am going to report it to the police. If only he gets questioned I’m hoping it will make me feel a lot less like he has got away with it. If I report it what will happen next?

I would strongly recommend you contact your local SARC rather than going to the police. They can talk you through everything.

I don't know the process sorry, but please don't be disappointed if he isn't arrested or charged. Or if it takes a really long time for anything to happen.
Are any other children at risk from him? If yes then that should be flagged up with SS due to potential risk to children he might have access to. So it's worth reporting for that reason. So that other children eg grandchildren are safe.
Are you getting support while you are considering this? Such as talking to a counsellor? Reporting him may not be the panacea for your mental health that you hope but I sincerely hope it helps bring you peace.
