We have the ancient thread resurrector back. A lot of the top threads are from 2007/8.

OP posts:
PoochPalace · 15/01/2023 02:10

yep just noticed that 👍 how do they even do it I wonder?

Aquamarine1029 · 15/01/2023 02:14

It's very easy to overlook the date, though. You click on a thread and just start reading without even looking.

Just4ThisThread · 15/01/2023 02:18

Looks like a future troll trying to build a posting history, replying with ‘agree’ to withdrawn posts 🙄

NiteWotcha · 15/01/2023 02:20

Can you post a link or two? Thanks

VainAbigail · 15/01/2023 02:21

It’s this new “similar threads” thing isn’t it.

Stupid new feature.

I don't think the date really matters, if a post is relevant.

I don't think the date really matters, if a post is relevant.

If an OP is asking about something that happened with their DH in 2007 the situation has almost certainly resolved itself in the 16 years since. So a poster taking a long time to post a thoughtful answer is wasting their time. Hence the heads up.

It depends on the subject.

Wrong. No one needs to give advice to someone whose child could now be a parent themselves.

PP said if the post is relevant. Your example obviously isn't, but some posts can be relevant, yes.

True. In fact maybe it's better, as these seem to get so repetitive lately, people asking the same question over & over again 🥱😴

Pleiades2020 · 15/01/2023 05:34

Yeah I've been caught out a couple of times with old threads and now look at the date first. Also annoying is where an OP posts and never comes back - someone pointed out a while back always to look for the See Next link to spot these. The joys of the Internet :)

I think the Similar Threads could be useful though, especially if you're looking for advice about something and need further opinions.

Do trolls really go to so much effort? 😳

rainbowandglitter · 15/01/2023 09:15

This absolutely stresses me out. I always check the date before I do anything now.

thirdlaw · 15/01/2023 09:29

One of mine was just resurrected - I asked a question related to my mum, who died two weeks later, so today's answers are a little late to say the least.

But yes, it is the "similar threads" feature that is the root cause.

DashboardConfessional · 15/01/2023 09:31

There's no such thing as adding a "relevant" post to a 16 year old thread in AIBU. AIBU is a question and it has been answered.
