No, it's not April 1st.

I daw this advert thought it was from wish (they keep suggesting glow in the dark bollocks for bikes to me) but no its build a bear!

ofwarren · 14/01/2023 22:33

😬
That's a bit weird

Lockheart · 14/01/2023 22:33

Unless they're selling them to kids, which they're patently not from that advert, YABU. Not sure what's x-rated about a bear in pyjamas with champagne.

Cheeeseontoasts · 14/01/2023 22:34

Bears in bondage gear would be a bit too much for a toy shop, but I think the ones in the picture are ok.

MK19590 · 14/01/2023 22:34

Unless I'm missing something they don't look "X-rated" to me. A little childish but it's cute and not hurting anybody. If you don't like it don't buy it

XenoBitch · 14/01/2023 22:35

Some adults like Build a Bear. Let them crack on with it.

ClubhouseGift · 14/01/2023 22:35

YABU. This isn’t x-rated at all Confused

It’s just bears in pjs with champagne.

jaicobain · 14/01/2023 22:38

Some adults like childish things, I don’t think it necessarily makes them creepy. I have a friend who loves fairies and her house is full of fairy paraphernalia. She’s completely harmless and has a great life, high-respect job etc.

As a PP said, the bears aren’t engaging in explicit acts so I don’t see a problem. It’s a fun novelty gift.

Many things originally for children have been recreated for adults…adult cartoons for example like the Simpson’s with a childish art style but adult humor.

ArtixLynx · 14/01/2023 22:39

they're over 18 because of the imitation alcohol. nothing else.

Keyansier · 14/01/2023 22:40

I thought it was going to be something like those Bad Taste Bears in the 00's that were actually marketed at children/teenagers and had bears in ball gags and bondage gear (and much worse)

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 14/01/2023 22:42

They have a whole 'adult only' section on their website now called The Bearcave with a range of bears in underwear.

They are cute, not something that‘s immediately going to have a child asking questions if they come across one.

Casilero · 14/01/2023 22:45

Maybe people buy them for their partners? Hope I don't get one. I much prefer perfume, or a nice bottle of wine.

RobertaFirmino · 14/01/2023 22:46

It's only some innocent looking grundies with strawberries printed on them though, it's hardly crotchless panties and a peephole bra now, is it?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 14/01/2023 22:48

They are cute. If DH ever spends £50 on one though I'll be really annoyed, would much prefer an Amazon voucher 😀

Blueeyedgirl21 · 14/01/2023 22:51

Dh sister and her partner are Disney adults and do things like queue outside the Disney store (this was a while ago when they were everywhere) for when new toy story merch was released, they have Disney work bags, not like kids ones quite nice ones tbf, they buy any and all Disney Lego also

this is the kind of thing they would absolutely buy one another for Valentine’s or that he would buy her, she’d love it, a little bit cheeky but nothing sordid

SantaCarlaCalifornia · 14/01/2023 22:52

The few I looked at aren't overly risque but it's a bit weird for a kid's toy shop.

Nancydrawn · 14/01/2023 22:56

I don't think I'd call that X-rated...

That's, maybe, at a push, a 15? Boxers and some champagne do not make something shocking.

That said, I cannot imagine a scenario in which I would go to Build-A-Bear-after-dark.
