Any sports or dance parents awake? Need a pep talk, dd has a comp tomorrow & it's hidiously bitchy.

It's a very competitive activity, the parents of the other competitors are rude & bitchy. They only speak to me if they want to find out something about dd. I always make the effort to say hi & congratulate their dc but I get nothing except stoniness in return. I know I should be aloof but I'm so bad at it. Pep talk needed.
Re dc she's not the top of the age group, more middle of the pack but starting to climb slowly, she's not a threat to the top guns...
Activity (think gymnastics)

Take a book/kindle with you and just say hi on your way past them?

Willow12345 · 14/01/2023 01:44

Good idea to take book/kindle as poster above suggests.
I would smile and say hello to the other mums and that's it. Just think of it as time to catch up on your latest book.
Good luck!

@LordSugarTits yes I've my book packed. I just find the atmosphere so unfriendly. The parents (well mainly mums) of the top kids are very standoffish even though our dc have been competing for seven years. The mums of the top kids are all frenemies too.. It fills me with dread going here in the afternoon..

My kids do a competitive sport (also along the lines of gymnastics/dance/etc)

We have a great friendship group in our competition team but some of these parents are obsessed! The pressure they put on their kids is unreal (where’s I don’t care at all, they do their best and it is what it is). A lot of these people base their lives around their kids activity - it’s quite sad actually. You’re better just taking your book and keeping yourself to yourself 😂

Our club is fine, parents are lovely & dd has lots of lovely friends. It's when we go to compete in the county we meet the Queen bees...
