Private Message on Mumsnet? AIBU to wonder what they want?

Had a strange PM. The poster is saying very little. They sent me a message saying I agree with you, this didnt make sense as there was no indication as to what post they were even on about. I ignored.

A while later i got one saying hello and that was all? What do they want and has anyone else had this? I havent engaged at all on PM.

Ignore it.

It's either a scammer trying to hook you in, or it's someone new to the site, possibly foreign, who doesn't understand how it works. Either way you are fine to just ignore.

The only pm I had was someone saying they were a journalist . Have you done a search on their username to have a nose?

You could report it to MNHQ.

Most likely someone who doesn't understand how the site works or is too shy to post on a thread. Just ignore.

I had some guy trying to hit on me in my pms recently. Weird. i thought I was a scam, until I mentioned my middle age and husband they stopped contact 😆

I had similar- it's a bloke trying to start up a conversation. Obviously the people who re most likely to respond are those most likely to be vulnerable/open to taking up a relationship with a random on the internet.

I reported to Mn and they chucked him off.
