AIBU to divorce my DH for this?

This is light-hearted (ish).

I’m currently breastfeeding and DD has CMPA so I can’t have dairy (boo). So, I buy these half-decent alpro chocolate pot things. They’re not as nice as the expensive coconut ones but my vegan friend recommended them and they were on offer at Tesco. I like them enough to be worth the 120 calories but I’m not mad on them. I bought about 8 I think, and had one.

This morning, I woke up with awful tonsillitis and my throat hurts like hell. I’ve not been up to eating all day. Then, I see DH opening up one of my alpro pots and think (ooh, that looks doable) so I ask him to grab me one too and he says he’s just started eating the last one!! I point out that there are very similar dairy things in the fridge (gü desserts, müller corners, chocolate mousse types) that have been hanging around since Christmas and he says he prefers the alpro ones!

AIBU to think that he should be having the dairy ones and leaving mine for me? Or, potentially, just not buying the dairy ones if he’s not going to eat them? I’m obviously not actually annoyed because he gave me most of the pot and we’ll get more tomorrow but who does he think will eat the dairy products if he doesn’t?

Definitely grounds for divorce!!

dizzydizzydizzy · 10/01/2023 20:48

Boot him out now. He should know better than to come between you and your chocolate.

Thatiswild · 10/01/2023 20:48

So he’s eaten 6 non dairy desserts knowing you can’t eat the dairy ones. That is very selfish. I can’t have dairy either and my dh would check before using my stuff but also would never eat the last one. I hope he is out replenishing the stocks!

This made me Lol

RumItOver · 10/01/2023 20:50

LTB!!! 😅

Worriere · 10/01/2023 20:50

In all seriousness, what a prick. What a lack of consideration for you.

Whyisitsososohard · 10/01/2023 20:50

He should definitely go to the shops to buy more alpro pots. I actually quite like them! And get home to get you some vegan ice gream while he's at the shops. It's come on loads and it will be nice on your throat.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 10/01/2023 20:52

Wtaf? He ate all your dairy free stuff? Wanker.

Prettypaisleyslippers · 10/01/2023 20:53

Bury him under the patio?

stealthninjamum · 10/01/2023 20:53

He sounds awful, surely no one past the age of 12 would consume the whole of one type of treat in the fridge or cupboard without asking the people they live with if they mind. I know this is lighthearted but that would really annoy me.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 10/01/2023 20:53

I'm coeliac and my husband knows not to touch the GF stuff, even if he really likes it (admittedly there's not many of those...)

Eastereggsboxedupready · 10/01/2023 20:55

Imo this really isn't light hearted at all.

Aussiegirl123456 · 10/01/2023 20:55

What a liberty. Naughty husband.

Feministwoman · 10/01/2023 22:48

I actually don't view this as "lighthearted"

It's seriously unpleasant of him, he ate the only deserts YOU can eat, in preference to the dairy based ones he can eat, but YOU can't?

Appalling.

(I'm gluten and lactose intolerant, my DH wouldn't dream of doing this, however my really unpleasant adult son loved eating ALL my gluten/lactose free foods, including my very expensive present chocolates.

And then taunting me about it.

One of the many reasons I'm now v LC with him)

Yep. It's actually not funny or lighthearted. He's really selfish.

ImBlueDab · 10/01/2023 22:54

Send him out to get some more for you, the selfish wanker! I'd also call him that to his face in the OPs shoes too. I'm not seeing what's lighthearted about it.

whoyougonnacallGOATSBUTTER · 10/01/2023 23:06

Why are you lighthearted? You should be furious at his selfishness.

Send him out for replacements.
