Amazon now asking for orders of Nicorette to be signed for by 18+ fine but when an obviously OVER 18+ person answers the door, don’t ask for proof of ID ffs!

I’ve ordered my Nicorette chewing gum from Amazon for quite a while now!

No problem, except now it seems it needs to be signed for by someone 18+! Never been asked for before!

Delivery tonight and they’re asking a 50+ person for proof of age! Really!

They’re literally just doing their job 🤷🏼‍♀️ takes 5 seconds to get ID out of your purse/wallet/bag.

Silverpining · 08/01/2023 20:51

This is very old man shouts at cloud territory

they’re doing their job

Shoxfordian · 08/01/2023 20:52

They put the date of birth in their system to deliver it to you

OrigamiOwls · 08/01/2023 20:54

The Amazon system won't let the item be marked as delivered & let the driver move onto the next delivery without putting a date of birth in.

They just put date of birth in so they can't be accused of not checking.

I can totally imagine someone complaining to amazon that they weren't checked so it could have been given to a child! Shock

Agree with pp about old man shouting on clouds

AmazonsFuckedUpFreeMusicFeature · 08/01/2023 20:57

Maybe op will come back calmer after chewing few😂

Kanaloa · 08/01/2023 20:59

When I worked in retail I asked most people for ID. Getting into the habit of just asking rather than relying on my own guesses made it easier for me.

TrentCrimm · 08/01/2023 20:59

They're asking for proof of age?!? 😱

Who on earth could be fagged to give a teeny tiny crap?

DuplicateUserName · 08/01/2023 21:01

They need to note the ID that's all.

HollywoodDream · 08/01/2023 21:32

But I’ve been ordering these products for over 18 months without proof! It’s a new thing! I can understand alcohol needing proof!

It’s NOT the fact that the Amazon driver needed my date of birth, it’s the fact that they needed to see my driving licence with my date of birth on it! Couldn’t just say ‘I’m obviously WELL over the age of 18, date of birth, oh you need proof’!

ahh well!

I will just chow down on my Nicorette whilst contemplating life!

My dh was asked for ID from ocado and he's 52. He thought the driver was joking but when he realised he wasn't had to dig out his drivers license. There is no point in being pissed off.

Michaelmonstera · 08/01/2023 21:37

When I buy wine, I always feel slightly crushed inside when the assistant on the self-service tills presses the “obviously over 18” button. I am 60.

kirwanco · 08/01/2023 21:37

You’re welcome bbz 😘

Ducksinthebath · 08/01/2023 21:38

They’re not asking for the good of their health, are they? It’s a legal requirement. Why are you so special you shouldn’t be asked?

jmh740 · 08/01/2023 21:38

I got asked for id for a bread knife last week

HollywoodDream · 08/01/2023 21:39

I KNOW they’re doing their job! Calm down Margaret!

I can verbally give them my DOB as I’m VERY obviously over 18! But I have to go and dig out a driving licence, they have to check shining their torch light, read my DOB back to me!

If I purchased Nicorette in a supermarket the cashier wouldn’t need to see my driving licence to serve me, only if they felt they needed proof of my age would they query it!

I got IDd in Morrisons recently. I'm nearing 50. I was chuffed to bits Grin

Goldfishbowled · 08/01/2023 21:43

I agree OP it is annoying. Sainsbury’s refused to leave my groceries a few months ago as I remembered I had left my driving license in DHs car in my purse, which he had taken to work. I’m 35 with DCs at home, wear a wedding ring and own a house.

Its annoying to have to remember your driving license whenever you want to buy wine especially in the days of apple pay when theoretically you no longer need to carry a bag or purse. Last year I even got ID’d for a thrush tablet ffs and I don’t look particularly young.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 08/01/2023 21:44

Amazon policy seems to be proof of ID required for all age restricted products, whatever the aren't age of the person answering the door.
Saves the driver having to make a judgment. It's just part of what has to be done.

MrsRinaDecker · 08/01/2023 21:44

Amazon will have policies and the drivers will need to follow them or risk getting fired. You can disagree with the policy, but no point getting mad at the driver.

Emmelina · 08/01/2023 21:45

I’ve never been asked for physical ID, but they do ask my date of birth to enter into their little device before handing it over.

HollywoodDream · 08/01/2023 21:47

@gamerchick this is bloody awesome, I WISH I had the same experience but sadly no! 😆 This is why it makes no sense in my own home when I obviously not UNDER 18. 😩

HollywoodDream · 08/01/2023 21:50

@MrsRinaDecker i didn’t get mad at the Amazon driver, just to set the record straight.
