To stop picking up a mystery dog's shit?

Your vote will decide what I do.

YANBU - Leave the poo
YABU - Don't be lazy pick it up

On my way to work there is a particular stretch of road where there frequently a huge dog poo - nearly always in the middle of the pavement. I nearly always have bags in coat pocket for clearing up after my dog so whilst cursing the owner and imagining stuffing the poo in their shoes (or worse) I bag it up and bin it.

This has been going on since early November. I'm sure it's the same dog each time because location about the same and similar size each time. There's a school nearby and I know that there will be lots of children and prams using that pavement about 20 minutes after me.

However, a couple of days ago I discovered the nearby street bin has gone. The next bin is five minutes walk away slightly out of my way all whilst hauling about a bag containing a large shit which is nothing to do with me.

So Mumsnet am I unreasonable to give up picking up this shit because the bin has gone or should I go out of my way to the next nearest bin and risk missing the bus ?

Leave it and report it to the council for clean up

I pick up other dog's poo if I have my dog with me, or if not then only when I know for certain I'll pass a bin very soon. It's so much worse than picking up after my own for some reason!

Just leave the shit where it landed. It'll send the dog owner a stronger message if they encounter the same turd on their next walk, rather than fondly imagine it's been spirited away by the poo fairies.

Take a can of spray paint and spray it a bright colour. Hopefully people will see it and won't step in it and the next day the owner will see and be shamed into clearing it up. Or not as they are clearly a massive bellend!

Take some chalk and draw round it highlighting it and maybe add a message to the arsehole owner suggesting they pick up after their dog

Council wardens seem to be less use than a chocolate teapot when it comes to dealing with offenders.

What Matron says above

Mystery dog?

Must have been Scooby-Doo.

OK - well I have some sliver and gold glitter sprays left over from Christmas craft projects so time to turn dog poo into unicorn poo (or something like that)

It was there again this morning. I was in a rush. I left it as no time to detour to the remaining bin. I doubt owner will care, they haven't so far. I do feel bad for all the parents that encountered it with young children and prams etc. this morning :(

You should get some of these PooPins to go with the glittery paint

Unfortunately the arseholes that don't pick up after their dog are unlikely to be bothered by much other than being caught in the act and named and shamed on all the local facebook pages
