I can't believe how warm London is today..

I'm too hot wearing a wool jumper and padded winter coat. I'm glad for the warmth to keep the bills down but I certainly didn't expect to feel hot popping to the shops in January!

I've just had to change my jumper for a thin one and open the windows in my home office, it is unseasonably warm.

Squabbledee · 05/01/2023 16:06

My window is open too!

Thank goodness cause the price of heating is astronomical.

I think media and climate change alarmists are sensationalising the warm temperatures. I mean it was freezing few weeks ago. Even the reports that 2022 was the warmest year on record - sounds alarming until you realise we've only been monitoring temp for a couple centuries.

The earth has been here for billions of years, and will be here for millions more long after we're extinct with several ice ages inbetween. I mean the dinosaurs became extinct 65million years ago.

Not only in London ! Currently roasting on a paediatric ward in the Midlands , fans on and windows open 🥵

LlynTegid · 05/01/2023 16:18

Isn't it nice, think of the energy savings.

It will be cold at school half term of course, or wet!

Chipsahoy · 05/01/2023 16:19

Come to northern Scotland 🥶

Thank goodness we have some random on mumsnet who knows more about climate change than actual scientists, and it turns out the scientists are all wrong, nothing to worry about here 🙄

Yes this weather is crazy and it’s only going to get crazier. But the craziest thing of all (imo) is how we’re all just carrying on making things worse. There’s so much we could be doing about climate change, I just wish people would wake up and take it seriously.

Justcallmebebes · 05/01/2023 16:24

I'm at work in the E Mids and have the office window open and my desk fan on. Can't remember that ever happening in January before

Darcy101 · 05/01/2023 16:28

Just swapped my duvet from a 13.5 to a 4.5 !

Indeed. History has shown time and time again scientists can be wrong.

Very mild here in Leicestershire, too. We have been able to cut right back on the number of hours our heating is on since the cold spell in December. Long may it continue.

VickyEadieofThigh · 05/01/2023 16:59

It was mild here in Yorkshire yesterday but today is somewhat colder.

NottanOtter · 05/01/2023 17:00

Not really relevant but it made me smile to see this thread title above all the 'Prince Harry Ate My Rabbit/Shagged My Mum/Swore at My Vicar' shock horror threads.

Such a British reaction, to shout, 'Gosh, it's so WARM TODAY, don't you think?' over the top of the dirty linen washing.

Come to northern Scotland 🥶

If we get another summer like 2022, I will be! Essex was hell in that 40 degree heat.

Trinity65 · 05/01/2023 17:28

South East London here and I agree with You.
Not had to put the heating on all day, which is great of course.
Only remember a few January's like this in my 57 years, to be honest.
