I’m disabled, I have arthritis in my hip, and knee. I have been found temporary accommodation but it has internal stairs.
The council are telling me that my children occupy the upstairs, and I occupy the downstairs because there is a downstairs bathroom. There are steps to access the bathroom.
Expressed concerns that in an emergency, so for example, the children are fighting (two have autism and behavior problems) I will not be able to get up the stairs. The landlord isn’t guaranteeing permission for adjustments within the home. Currently the way I accessed the stairs is by crawling up on my hands and knees and bum shuffling down the stairs.
I can’t lift my leg more than 3 to 4 inches, then I have to bend my knee to get more height.
I’m constantly being told that I am being negative.
