To ask for advice because glasses are driving me crazy

I alternate between glasses and contact lenses (blind as a bat without them) and this year is like to wear my glasses more because lenses are so expensive. But I can’t wear glasses without them falling/slipping down constantly and having to push them up every 2 minutes.

I must have an odd face shape because I’ve been to the opticians to have the glasses readjusted and they say there’s not much they can do, the glasses are fine, but because my nose is small/flat, it doesn’t hold them up.

I’m looking at getting some nose pads for glasses to try out and see if that makes a difference - does anyone else have this problem? Have you found anything that works or am I destined to spend the rest of my life with glasses halfway down my face?

surely they should be tighter around your ears?

I have a small bridge so can't wear molded plastic.glasses, I always choose metal or combination frames with adjustable nose pads. Also you can find suppliers online who do overall smaller styles - sometimes called "asian fit". And have you heard of "nerd wax"? It's a compound thats in a lip balm type dispenser; you apply on the nosepads to stop slippage on a greasy nose. Doesn't cost a lot if you want to try that first.

What kind of frames do you wear? I have found that plastic frames are better for not slipping than metallic ones. The tiny screws holding the side bits never seem to loosen either.

I have a small nose and I can’t buy trendy plastic frames as they just slip down my face all the time. No problem with wire frames with adjustable nose pads so just get those now.

They are the wrong shape for you, try another frame? I have about 3 pairs of glasses, one, sadly the most expensive won’t sit right, I’ve had them readjusted many times. I’ve ditched them.

Silicone glasses ear covers work for me

I have this problem and it's really annoying (pushes specs up nose). Frames with the adjustable nose pads are better but they tend to be the thin / wire framed ones, not the moulded plastic ones. Wire frames might not be suitable either if you have a strong prescription. I guess you just have to try loads on and shake your head around when you do so to see if they stay on! But I used to have a great pair of moulded plastic ones that never slipped, so they are out there.

I have this problem - in the end I went to an independent optician who was willing to spend a slow afternoon adjusting the arm of my glasses until it was exactly the right length for my ears.

It does limit the type of glasses I can have as only metal frames can be adjusted so, but it doesn't take so long after the first time.
