I know I'm extremely behind with the times here but I've never really gotten into podcasts. It's just not something I've ever been interested in. This year I'm trying to walk and exercise more and thought it might be nice to have something to listen to while I go.

I have no idea what podcasts are about though. I've downloaded one from dr Michael Moseley about healthy daily habits which seems ok. I wondered what other genres people listen to? I'm interested in most things - books, TV, politics, current affairs. It's just that I don't know what's out there. Any recommendations hugely appreciated.

I love No Such Thing as a Fish, for just general fun trivia.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 01/01/2023 22:43

Where there's a will there's a wake - Kathy Burke talking to celebs about their deaths. Highly irreverent and very silly.

WhoWants2Know · 01/01/2023 22:45

Oh, and Shrine Podcasts- they were originally a small podcast that recapped Line of Duty, but now they pick out and follow or review lots of different TV series. They will restart this week to coincide with Happy Valley, and they always make me laugh.

Netaporter · 01/01/2023 22:46

Ooh @CharlotteStreetW1 I came on to recommend this also. I love it.

also look at ‘the rest is history’ very good. Loved the Love Island history special 😂

FannyCann · 01/01/2023 22:54

Off menu - James Acaster and Ed Gamble interview celebs about their dream meal, funny and easy listen.
Happy mum happy baby - interviews with celebs about parenthood.
Morbid - true crime podcast.

MyLordWizardKing · 01/01/2023 22:59

My Dad Wrote a Porno is brilliant!

I also like to try and find a podcast when I'm watching a new TV show. Bald Move cover a number of shows (they have a really good Game of Thrones one if you like that). Another very funny one is Up Yours, Downstairs, which is a kind of affectionate ribbing of Downton Abbey.

Redhanded (true crime)
Older and Wider (Jenny Eclair and her mate Judith being v funny)
Postcards from Midlife (two journalists being interesting - I love their chats about raising teens)

Suzuki00 · 01/01/2023 23:03

Parenting Hell - josh widdicombe and rob Beckett (easy, light hearted, laugh out loud)

wolf & owl pod - romesh ranganathan and Tom Davis (lad chat mixed with mental health and an agony aunt section at the end)

true crime and cocktails (Canadian cousins talk true crime in a sensitive way, coupled with a 20-30 min pop culture and personal catch up beforehand. Long format at around 2.5 hours an episode)

morbid (grisly true crime handled sensitively… well… as sensitively as you can. Have taken heat for victim blaming but I don’t see it myself)

also ran - behind the bastards,
short histories & chatabix
