To be annoyed he hasn’t wished me happy new year

I’ve been seeing a man for about 6 months and the last time I saw him was two days before Christmas. I haven’t spoken to him much since then apart from him wishing me a merry Christmas and saying he hopes I have a nice day. I told him the same but he hasn’t contacted me since then. He hasn’t been in touch to wish me a happy new year.

I haven’t messaged him either but it seemed that it was just me putting in the effort. He started to text and ask to see me more and was putting in more effort with me but it’s stopped again. Aibu to be annoyed that he hasn’t wished me happy new year or been in touch?

He's probably still hungover.
There's plenty of time for him to wish you a happy new year.

It may be that he is thinking the same and feels you may be losing interest?
Maybe just have a good chat and be open with each other about how you feel.

It's so easy to second guess/ jump to conclusions, but hopefully being open and honest with each other will help clear the air.

What was he doing for new year?
He could well still be asleep.

And if you haven't messaged him either then not seeing any difference in your position to him

I think this one may have run it's course.

But maybe he was waiting for you text him too.

it may be a series of dates more than a relationship. If I felt connected to somebody I'd be texting numerous times a day (but also respectful of their schedule). I think not to have heard from somebody for three days shows it's just a series of dates. Maybe they're good dates, but still.

Could he have a partner?

Bin him, he's dating someone else.

Don't feel silly, it happens. Unless the first man you ever date ends up being your partner for life, this is just part of it. One of you goes off the other and it ends. If you had some fun then it's not been a waste of your time, however spending too much time analysing it now definitely would be.

I think generally if you feel that a man is going "off the boil" they've gone off the boil. If a man is fully interested in a relationship with you, and available they will make you very aware of the fact, you won't be left wondering.
