To boil and bake the ham even though it's one or the other on the packet?

I always do both - 20 mins boiling per pound in weight, then about half an hour in oven with a 1/3 honey, 2/3 vinegar glazed and some demerara sugar sprinkled on top

I simmer in cider with onions and apple, like @SarahAndQuack plus I add any veg that need using because they're a bit tired. Then glaze with maple syrup, mustard and a bit of ginger, bake 10 mins, reglaze and bake another 10 mins.
