To find everyday life annoying

PolkaDotMankini · 29/12/2022 21:58

Today, I was irritated by the following:

  • movement sensor lights turning off while I was in the shower at the gym so I had to wash my hair in the dark
  • being stuck behind a verrrry slow-moving hearse
  • my children requiring food
  • a pony mistaking my baby niece for food
  • having to wear/carry a thick winter coat because it was cold
  • DD clacking her teeth together like a reanimated skeleton
  • "technical difficulties" on the TUI website, resulting in 2 phone calls to sort out something that should take 3 minutes online

Granted, I have PMT, and at no point was I gnashing my teeth, crying and shaking or being an arse, but everyone finds everyday things annoying, right?

I have to be honest but it is not the answer you want…. But no, I don’t find every day life annoying.

Obviously I get annoyed! But part of my every day life? No

Lottapianos · 30/12/2022 09:25

OP, I do feel like you sometimes. It's always when I've got much bigger emotional stuff brewing, and that means that life's little irritations get magnified a thousand times. I start losing perspective, and fairly small annoyances drive me round the bend. There's always a bigger issue that needs addressing, but it may take me a few days to work it out

Can you relate to that at all?

Laurap82 · 30/12/2022 09:28

I get like this every now and then but usually it’s when I’m feeling overwhelmed by life in general, too long of a to do list and not feeling supported and therefore stressed either at home life or work life. PMT will never help as it just makes me generally irritable and impatient anyway. Hopefully the feeling will pass in a day or 2.

Floridana · 30/12/2022 10:39

I understand how you feel! If you are looking for solidarity I have plenty. Lots of minor annoyances are aggravating me at the moment. The worst is my blinds. Every time I go to open or close them I pull in the wrong cord. Every time.
It's usually just for a couple of days and I start to feel better!

WatchoRulo · 30/12/2022 10:45

I was 100 with you on all but -

being stuck behind a verrrry slow-moving hearse

This is some poor bastard's last trip anywhere so you (or I) can give them 30 seconds out of respect.

I was waiting for someone to disagree with the hearse one.
Yes, you should show respect, but if you feel irritated then you feel irritated!

TheGirlWhoTamedTheDragon · 30/12/2022 10:50

Yes, absolutely. It feels like there is an endless list of tasks and errands. Things breaking, things having to be organised. The mind numbing boredom of never-ending washing. I find it overwhelming and exhausting. But then I do have ADHD so that probably doesn't help!

MagpiePi · 30/12/2022 10:52

@WatchoRulo Isn’t calling someone a bastard disrespectful?

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 30/12/2022 11:02

The hearse thing is disrespectful.

YABU.

I don't get annoyed in my every day life, I have moments of annoyance if I'm super overwhelmed otherwise I'm very laid back. Life is for enjoying not being angry at every single little detail.

PolkaDotMankini · 30/12/2022 11:14

I was feeling stressed yesterday because my darling husband and children seem to be incapable of getting dressed and ready to go at a specific time unless I'm physically there to chivvy them. And PMT. Today I'm much better!

I wouldn't mind being stuck behind a hearse for 30 seconds. But this was 20 minutes on an A-road. I've told DH that when I pop my clogs I'm to be driven to my final at top speed, preferably with wheel spins.

So you would expect to be delayed by a hearse for only 30 seconds. Show some respect for godsake.

OppositeNumber · 30/12/2022 11:39

“I have PMT but” is the whole thing.

mymeatballsmymeatballs · 30/12/2022 11:42

It's PMT. At my time of the month, every single little thing I have to do annoys me. Even having to go to the toilet annoys me.

EmmaAgain22 · 30/12/2022 11:46

Everyday life is annoying. Hence my tendency to leave errands.

tech has made it all so much worse.

thank you for saying it. Though I am rather alarmed re your baby niece!

DisneyChops · 30/12/2022 12:03

Yep quite alot. It's usually indicative of something bigger though.

LlynTegid · 30/12/2022 12:07

Disagree about the hearse, think of those mourning the loss of a loved relative or friend for whom Christmas time will always remind them of that person's death.

PolkaDotMankini · 30/12/2022 18:27

@EmmaAgain22 baby niece is fine. The pony mistook her reaching to pat his nose as her reaching to give him a handful of food so gave her a good mouthing she wasn't expecting. No teeth came into it!

At what point after 30 seconds of, "Oh, how sad. I hope that person lived a long and happy life and their family are ok" is it alright to be annoyed? Even the Queen's coffin was flown down from Edinburgh!

Stressedmum2017 · 30/12/2022 18:32

Sounds a typical day without PMT for me. Factor in PMT and its far worse so I would say you are doing pretty well!
