People shouldn't open a high quality holiday let when they have no generosity for hosting.

Just got back from 24 hours at the soon to be improved holiday home. The hosts had provided for ten of us plus themselves, one loo roll, no bedding, no guest hand towels just their own personal towels.

When they left us home alone for four hours they switched the heating off.

AIBU to think they do not have the generosity of spirit to run a high quality, luxury holiday let.

Were you paying for this experience?

Or was it just a group of friends staying at one if the group's second home?

Cnidarian · 29/12/2022 09:39

Generosity of spirit 😆😆😆 It's a business

We're you paying?

poefaced · 29/12/2022 09:41

Need more info.

Did the listing say bring your towels and bedding?

The onus is on you to CHECK that loo roll, towels and bedding are provided.

If they lied, complain and get a partial refund.

SleeplessInEngland · 29/12/2022 09:43

Needs more background, OP. Don't just assume everyone's psychic.

HomeTheatreSystem · 29/12/2022 09:43

Well, console yourselves with the fact that if they carry on in this vein future reviews by paying customers will provide a lot of laughs for you all.

PragmaticWench · 29/12/2022 09:44

The owners were staying there as well? So you weren't paying for a holiday let? Your post is rather confusing.

ladyofshertonabbas · 29/12/2022 09:44

More info needed. What sort or arrangement was this?

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 29/12/2022 09:46

So you stayed for free with friends/family in a place they own and intend to use as an AirBandB? But you had to bring your own towels etc because this is a visit, not a hotel?

DuplicateUserName · 29/12/2022 09:46

You've typed this like we know you and what you're talking about?

DrMarciaFieldstone · 29/12/2022 09:47

Did you pay for your stay?

Oysterbabe · 29/12/2022 09:47

I'm going to need a bit more explanation of the set up here. Were you paying?

AriettyHomily · 29/12/2022 09:48

Why were the owners staying too, and why is it soon to be improved?

Mumdiva99 · 29/12/2022 09:48

I'm just here for the drip feed of information.....lol

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 29/12/2022 09:49

The heating is possibly a bit tight, although places don’t have to be heated 24/7. The towels/bedding/toilet roll is all potentially ok with warning and priced accordingly.

GereWeGoAgain · 29/12/2022 09:49

It’s not about generosity of spirit, it’s a business. I did similar when I was sorting out the house I inherited to turn it into a holiday let - had friends and family to stay (although I wasn’t there at the same time) so they could flag up what extra bits I needed, how easy they found oven/ tv/ washing machine etc to work, whether there were enough towels and bedding etc.

Just tell them they need to get extra stuff unless they’re planning on letting it out as a shell in order to minimise cleaning time/ costs

Yep, me too.

Yeah this is one of those annoying threads where the OP knows they haven't given enough info. But they are trying to draw everyone in so they can dribble the story out, instead of explaining properly at the outset

Movinghouseatlast · 29/12/2022 09:55

Well, they should have told you in advance that there was no bedding so you could bring your own. I don't blame them for not providing it if you are staying for free though as it costs me £15 per bed set including towels for washing/ironing.

Shinyandnew1 · 29/12/2022 10:00

How much did you pay to stay there?

PinkyFlamingo · 29/12/2022 10:02

Did you know about the towels in advance?

daisychain01 · 29/12/2022 10:03

Maybe this thread was created by one of the PIL on the other thread who were treating the OPs house like a guest house and expecting all the amenities including an on-site laundry Grin

PuppyMonkey · 29/12/2022 10:15

Somebody ask a slightly irrelevant question and I bet that’s the only point OP comes back and answers.

DreamingOfAGreenChristmas · 29/12/2022 10:25

Less info and context than the loo roll.

Are people able to communicate sensibly?

thapob · 29/12/2022 10:26

🤨

Willmafrockfit · 29/12/2022 10:29

i think they have now turned the internet off
