to wonder if I cooked more slowly and smiled more, my food would taste better?

I have noticed that all the food on these Hello Fresh type rips offs services, they all move reeeeaaallly slowly and are always smiling.

I am usually chucking food on the plate as fast as possible, usually swearing under (and not always under) my breath as I am either just in from work, about to leave for work or just fucking knackered.

Perhaps I should hone my beatific smile and transfer the food so slowly it would get overtaken by an asthmatic snail and then the kids would appreciate it more?

I used to work in a supermarket and once had chicken from the hot food counter returned as the customer could tell that it had not been cooked with love. I wrote him off as wasting my time but maybe there’s something in it after all?

We had someone at work that the "fresh" baguettes clearly hadnt had "enough care". They were those part baked ones that we sell finished off for ten minutes and tripled in price!

Same woman, when offered the part baked to cook herself at home said that she didnt want mass produced rubbish....didnt know what to say to that, perhaps she thought our "baker" was hand producing artisnal rolls out the back!

Hahahaha it’s so hard to answer with a straight face sometimes. Our chicken also came in frozen and was just heated up. It needed love to taste good though, apparently! Maybe I’ll try giving my frozen chicken and half-baked bread rolls a hug before cooking it next time and seeing if it magically tastes much higher quality. I’m sure it will. These people and adverts can’t all be wrong.

I tell you what, we'll do a test. Hug one in a twin pack and tell it you love it and are proud of it and then the other one, tell it that its a massive disappointment to you and that you expected better.

I will do the control, simply say nothing at all and bung them in the oven as usual Grin

It does blow my mind sometimes that people come into the shop that they must surely know sells mass produced crap, and still expect it to be as if someone lovingly created it at home. Even my, as much as I love her....quite gullible...mother, knows that "hand finished" means that someone in a factory chucked on a thimble full of sprinkles or herbs or whatever onto a machine produced loaf or cake!

A bit like a cake made with love?

I once made a cake in a terrible strop and rightly it turned out like two discs of flat biscuit. 😆

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/12/2022 02:07

Although if anything is half baked its people who buy it and expect it to taste as good as home made. I buy it sometimes but I know that what I am paying for is convenience!

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/12/2022 02:08

So much pressure on me to remember which baguette I loved and which I was an unhinged bitch too. I am willing to try in the name of science though. If I don’t come back it’s because a baguette broke down in tears and I couldn’t live with the trauma I caused it.

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/12/2022 02:12

@LipsSoScarlet Yeah......I wouldnt want that on you....

Maybe do it at work....one day be an outright bitch to all the chickens and the next tell them how much you love them and compare the returns!

But I don’t work there any more! Now I work for the NHS and don’t get trusted with cooking anything, possibly because they don’t believe I’ll do it with love. I could try hugging patients meals but I feel this may result in more complaints, and a lot more mess, than not hugging would.

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/12/2022 02:20

Oh god please dont do it at work now!!

"I hugged three patients and they made but now I am being sued"

"I told three patients they were arseholes and they died but now I am being sued"

Too late. I’m being sued and taking you down with me! It’s totally your fault that I cooked my patients.
