For telling this delivery company to do this elsewhere

We live in a cul de sac,our house is opposite the entrance.

For the last 6 weeks or so a delivery company have taken to parking outside my house 2-3 times a day,two unmarked white vans and as late as 10pm some days.

They seem to swap parcels over;tidy up the vans;ive no issue with what they are actually doing but the the other things they are doing are annoying me

1.Parking over our driveway blocking the drop kerb.
2.Slamming doors and shouting at each other;they are really loud.
3.Point number 2 sets my dogs off and they start barking.

My husband is due home from work;they've just turned up again and I've gone out and told them to stop parking over my driveway and asked them to go elsewhere to do what their doing suggesting they use the end of the supermarket car park that's hardly ever used a 30 second drive up the road instead of disturbing my family and the neighbours.

They said it's a public road and they can do what they want,I told them that's correct but they cannot keep blocking my driveway and parking across a dropped kerb.

The one parked over my driveway then argued if they moved they'd be blocking the junction to which I told them that's not my problem move the van.

Not at all U. Can you try and find out which company it is?

YANBU

I’d be paying the council to paint a white line across your drive. My DM did this and it helped.

Notimeforaname · 27/12/2022 15:25

I think its fine. If your husband pulls up, they can move to let him him. It's really not a huge deal to me .

I would be really annoyed aswell, and would also go out and say something. They shouldn't be blocking your drive. It's not just the fact your dh can ask them to move once he gets home, why should he? And that's not the only issue, it's the noise they are making.

I had a similar issue once a car used to park right outside our house really late at night and make loads of noise laughing, shouting and slamming car doors. I'd had enough so got up to see who it was, and it was a car with 3 people in paramedic uniforms. They were parking there and walking to the ambulance station. I didn't mind them parking there, but they were really inconsiderate in how much noise they were making, at such an unreasonable hour (it was gone midnight).

I left a note on the windscreen asking them to be quieter, and said considering they are in a caring profession, they aren't very considerate to the neighbours in the street who are trying to sleep!!

They stopped parking there after that.

I think they are Amazon drivers but they refused to tell me what company it is when I asked.

I’ve experienced this and it was very irritating so I can fully sympathise. YANBU.

In an unmarked van they could be from any parcel firm at this time of year. Even our local FedEx route is being done by a clapped out blue Transit instead of the usual liveried van.

Try to have a look at the bags in their vans. If they're a mix of blue, yellow, orange and black, (individual bags) it's Amazon. If so, make a note of their numberplates and call Amazon Services to complain. If you can't see the bags, just call with the numberplates and say that you think they may be Amazon people.

About 90% of Amazon delivery drivers are sub-contractors. I used to do it. They take complaints, with the possibility of bad publicity, very seriously.

Yanbu.
We're in a Cul-de-sac too, and they park across our cars to sort through their parcels after delivering to next door. 🤷‍♀️
If we were going out, there would be words.
If we were coming in, they wouldn't get out! 👊🏻

Suedomin · 27/12/2022 18:08

You are nit being unreasonable they are allowed to park outside your house but they are now allowed to block your drive. I would complain to the company they work for
