Dtds are 11 and had a very generous Christmas with new bikes (much needed), clothes they love, games etc. we do stockings with small things like stationery, chocolate, socks, makeup etc and in them I put a £2 squishy stress ball each in their favourite colours from the works. It was just an extra thing I thought they’d squish a few times and move on.

the balls have not left their side - it’s a clear winner for 2022!

what’s been the unexpected highlight in your house?

There's only me in my house, kids are all adults, so apologies if you just wanted to know what toys were popular. I was given a little wooden mouse and I love it

My 1 year old fell in love with a musical dog, they told us to take it home with us. It's been played none stop all day (luckily I was at work today).

@ItsMeHiImTheProblem all favourites welcome. My gifts are all gorgeous but were from ideas I’d given (although forgotten about because my brain does that - send dh link saying oooh I love this then instantly forgets).

Chicken wire cloches to keep squirrels out of my plants, along with a hilarious message from husband about how it is time to escalate the wife/squirrel conflict.

DH bought me a mini mascara because he said he sees that I put my makeup on in the car. I was really touched!

DM loved her wooden Xmas tree ornaments

How lovely for the environment.

Some Christmas lights in the shape of bunnies!

My youngest granddaughter with her musical jewellery box, she kept winding it up and dancing like the ballerina. It was so lovely to watch!

I got a very lovely engagement ring which I definitely wasn’t expecting!

What is it with stress balls? My little girl's obsessed, they always go down better than any other present!

girlmom21 · 27/12/2022 07:27

MIL's antler candle holder and DM's Old Bookshop candle went down a storm!

I gave my early 20s aspie son a twiddly wire mandala ( like the one I'd had in the 80s) and he didn't put it down all day; to the extent that he opened most of his gifts on Boxing Day instead.
My brother gave me a piece of knobbly wood which is the stand for a glass bowl. The bowl must have been pressed into the wood while the glass was still hot as the wood is charred and the bowl only stands upright when it's mutated base sits on the wood. I absolutely love it!
