To wonder if you can set up a parent > multiple child arrangement for Nintendo switch?

Single mum here. I would be on top of this if I hadn’t had the most horrible chest infection/asthma exacerbation in the last few days.

For Christmas, I got DD1 a Nintendo switch lite. I had already bought DS1 a Nintendo switch in 2019.

It isn’t clear to me whether or how I can set up a parent (with one email address) - multiple child arrangement on the nintendo switch portal.

Does anyone know the best way to do this? Also is it best/cheaper to buy some online gaming pass thing? The game prices for mario kart etc seem to have doubled since I bought a switch for ds1.

I really don’t have the energy to figure this all out and read it up so was hoping some of you would know!

I really want to set this up for Ds1 as she has had a less nice Xmas with a sick mum who ended up having to go to A&E on Xmas eve.

Hi op, I know a little bit about this because I spent Christmas morning doing the same Grin

if you log into your Nintendo account on a computer or your phone you can add child accounts under your own, it also lets you also add parental controls.

(There are lots of YouTube videos on this if it helps)

with regards to playing online, we brought the family pass for up to 8 people under my account (so works for my switch and my children’s) if you get it from cd keys (where I got mine) it’s £10 cheaper :)!

lastly for cheap games you can also use cd keys, they often have games a lot cheaper than anywhere else, once you’ve purchased the game it sends you a code that you put straight into the switch.

hth, and hope you feel better soon BrewCake

Same thing as the other PP. I have an account and have added both DC as child accounts. I have also invited DH to the family as a parent. This is so he can admin the family too. I got a family plus expansion plan pass. I don’t think they are good value for money however. DH is into retro game and DC wants the animal crossing expansion pack otherwise I won’t bother.

If you buy a game online beware of the concept of the primary console. The games aren’t shared within a family. So you do need two copies of the game if they want to play at the same time. However I just make them take turns.

Thank you @DachshundsThroughTheSnow and @SnowAndFrostOutside

It was not clear if those prices on the Nintendo switch website were monthly or annual prices and whether they involved all games.. I only have two children and there is no danger of me becoming a gamer so I was trying to figure out if there would be value in an online pass.

Thank you for the tip on cd keys. That is brilliant!!

We had this issue yesterday, it was very annoying! We will eventually need a third console so will buy physical games rather than digital.
