To ask if there is a chance of getting the garage back

So to cut a long story short I rent a house that has a garage that goes with it . Obviously previous tenants didn’t want the garage so it’s now rented out privately. Am I in the wrong to ask if there is a chance of getting it back ? Parking up here is bad and if the garage is meant to be used by this house doesn’t it make sense to ask for it back ? I’ve lived here for 11 years . My thoughts are if someone moves into a property and will use the garage they should be consulted ? Obviously I also understand they need to make money hence if it’s empty they rent them out . Feedback please 🙏

But it doesn’t have a garage that goes with it as it’s rented out as 2 separate lots.

you can ask. But you will have to pay extra to have it and they might very well say no.

Was it in your tenancy agreement that you get use of the garage?

Why would you be in the wrong for asking a straightforward question? Ask the letting agent if it is possible.

You might as well ask, but I am puzzled you left it eleven years. 😀

It's been rented out for the 11 years you've lived there? Is it in your contract you have the garage?

We rented a house and our contract stated it came with 2 parking spaces which was perfect as we had 2 cars. Turns out it was one space and the other was a visitors space. We asked for a reduction in our rent and got it.

So, along those lines, I would say if it isn't in your contract, they may say you can have it but increase your rent.

If it is in your contract, I would question why you haven't been able to use it for 11 years and could you now start and if not, have a reduction in rent.

I’m happy to pay the 70 quid a month as my son now drives as well so has offered to go halves bless him .

I did ask when I first moved in but was told it’s on a long term let and it’s their choice why they do this . The garages are charged separately to the house so nothing in my housing contract . It’s been bad parking up here but I’d getting worse as most houses have at least 2cars now .

I will email them and see what they say
