To not dress up today?

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄

DD has been unwell all night with a throat and chest infection, ended up at out of hours last night!

Briefly popping round parent’s later on to open the presents that are there, we did have party outfits all planned out but given DD’s illness and lack of sleep for everyone in the house, WIBU to send everyone over in casual wear instead and pj’s for DD?

Thinking that comfort is most important here but also feeling guilty on the other hand for not making an effort!

Wear what you want. I’ve never dressed up for Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas!

Setyoufree · 25/12/2022 10:07

You're taking a chest infection to grandparents? Personally after a night like that I'd be going to the grandparents when everyone's feeling less tired. But anyway in answer to your question, no, I wouldn't dress up. We never dress up for Christmas anyway!

Casual is fine but I would be keeping DD at home if she’s infectious give her chance to recover rather than spread it around , have your presents at home and parents ones next week when she’s better

Cerridwen83 · 25/12/2022 10:11

I wouldn't be going personally. But yes, casual is fine.

IHaveNoSoul · 25/12/2022 10:14

Stay at home in your pj's

thelobsterquadrille · 25/12/2022 10:15

She needs to stay home and rest.

For the love of God, please don't take her to see her grandparents when she's been at OOH's with a chest infection!

CambsAlways · 25/12/2022 10:16

Agree with above post thelobsterquadrille

They only live 5 minutes away and they’re not old and vulnerable (they are late 40’s/early 50’s) literally going to pop in and get the presents and that’s it, DD has had 2 lots of antibiotics but waiting for them to kick in x

It doesn't matter if they're only in their forties - let her rest and get better at home!

Please don't spread bugs and infections about on Christmas Day - the presents can wait.

AuntieDolly · 25/12/2022 10:27

Can't they bring them to you?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 25/12/2022 10:29

If they're only 5 mins away, can't they come to you? Don't take little one out in the cold.

Makes no difference what you're wearing.

fancyacuppatea · 25/12/2022 10:35

If they're only 5 mins away, why can't they pop round, drop the presents off, blow a kiss at DD then go home?
Really not fair on your DD to be at OOH last night then dragged out today.
