To ask your best and worst characters in Love Actually?

My favourite characters are probably: Martine McCutcheon or Martin Freeman and Joanna Page as a duo

Least favourite: Kris Marshall - the one who goes to America.

On the other hand: best performances are: Emma Thompson and Laura Linney.

I can't really decide on a worst performer ar Kris Marshall but that's also because I don't like his character

Oh worst performer potentially the American president actually and Bill Nighy I hate his character also

The only one I like is the hot guy who Laura Linney should have stayed with

Not sure how I watched it twice looking back, it’s pretty bad

That film I how I discovered the song 'Songbird' which is beautiful in the scene where Karl (the hot one) goes back to the flat of the Laura Linney character.

K.Knightley looks stunning in this.

I like the film silly as it is.

Worst: the two porno people - so cringe
Best: Andrew Lincoln because he's pretty even if his character is a creepy weirdo
Terrible film!

Characterwise:

Best - Colin Firth and Aurelia, plus Natalie and Rowan Atkinson's character.
Worst - Kris Marshall and all the American girls he meets.

In terms of acting:

Best - Emma Thompson, Martine McCutcheon, Rowan Atkinson.
Worst - Keira Knightly and Laura Linney.

I had Colin Firth up there as well but thought I couldn't pick too many, I like the porno ones because of the awkwardness

Best - Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson, Rowan Atkinson (he’s only in it for one scene but it’s so funny!), Martine Mccutcheon (can’t spell it)

Kiera Knightley’s husband doesn’t play much of a role but he is very handsome! I do find it weird now I know Kiera Knightley was only 18 when it was filmed- she’s closer in age to the little boy than most of the adult cast

Worst- Keira knightly and her munchies

Best- Emma Thompson

I find the porn-actor pair very tedious; the twee juxtaposition of the relentless faux-sex with their tiresome shy/demure/awkward interactions make my eyes want to roll right out of my head in annoyance.

Rowan is in two scenes!

He's also at Heathrow Airport - he holds up the guy checking passports/boarding passes so Sam can get through to Joanna.

The woman who the necklace is bought for... the secretary (forgotten name!) Only because when she wears the turtleneck jumper it makes her neck look so long she looks like a cluedo (boardgame) figure!

The boy. He's meant to be 10 or 11 and we are supposed to believe he is in love. And the girl he likes looks about 14 and really would not go for him 😂if it was real!

Best - his dad.

I watched most of it from behind the settee whilst quietly sobbing so I'm giving them equal ratings.

I am also currently watching JT at the start of a marathon of Love Actually, Last Christmas and The Holiday.

Can't stand the Kiera Knightley character.

I love Laura Linney's character, I like to think that she and Karl would get together eventually.

Characters I liked

• Jamie and Aurelia - especially when they don't understand each other and "talk past each other"
• Rowan Atkinson's gift wrapping
• the porn body doubles
• Quite likes the PM and Natalie

Characters I didn't like

• Kris Marshall's Colin Frizzell - was I the only one who thought he had been picked up by hookers in the US and would end up stripped with no wallet?
• Mia (office bitch) who flirted with married Alan Rickman in front of his wife
• Juliet (Kiera Knightly) - seemed to have zero chemistry with her new husband or husband's friend
• Slimy US President

@riotlady Rosen Atkinson is in two scenes. One where he wraps the gift. One where he uses his coat as a shield so the little boy can slip through airport security. He was supposed to be in a scene with all 9 of the couples, but it got cut.

Colin Firth is the best character. I shout at the telly at Laura Linney character Sarah, she’s such a wet lettuce.

One of my favourite Christmas films.

Bill Nighy is easily favourite character, Kiera Knightly storyline is my worst, followed by Martin Freeman couple.

Rowan had various characters and some scenes were cut.
He was supposed to be an angel intervening in various plot lines.

I can't watch it since I realised all the successful couples are middle aged man/ young nubile woman. As far as I remember the middle aged women are either cheated on, lonely or, er, dead....

I first saw the film abroad where they must have cut the porn actors. I've not seen a version since which has them in, so didn't even know Martin Freeman is in the film!

We watched it the other night - do every Christmas! I love it! Sone of my favourite actors are in it - Alan Rickman especially.
Most hated character is his secretary/PA of course!
