So my friend who I've been friends with for years always feels like she try's to get one up on me in life (too many examples to tell you )
Anyway today it's my birthday and she texts me
"Omg look what I got,£5 in Superdrug"
It's your favourite perfume isn't it reduced in the clearance (it's normally around £45)
I got 4 bottles-1 for me and I sold the other 3 to (named two other friends and her cousin) for £5
They couldn't believe it when I told them
Then I said "oh you should have grabbed me one for £5"
She replied "oh yeah it's your fav isn't it-next time if I see any I will"

It came across a bit spiteful to me
Aibu ?

Maybe she just didn't think? Either way it seems like a non issue.

MulledWineAndMingePies · 24/12/2022 16:46

Yeah that's a bit weird considering it's your birthday.

Happy birthday OP.

Cruisebabe1 · 24/12/2022 16:47

She sounds so inconsiderate , I agree with you it is spiteful and thoughtless.

fortheloveofflowers · 24/12/2022 16:47

That to me is really quite bitchy. Why you friends with her?

donttellmehesalive · 24/12/2022 16:47

Was she texting so you could pop and get some?

billy1966 · 24/12/2022 16:50

Who needs enemies when you have non friends like that🙄.

Do yourself a favour and back away.

Stressedmum2017 · 24/12/2022 16:50

Weird, like why she has told you that she has been purposefully inconsiderate of you?

Hoppinggreen · 24/12/2022 16:51

Spiteful or thick as fuck.
Either way I wouldn’t want to be friends with her

GreekDogRescue · 24/12/2022 16:52

She sounds horrible

MulledWineAndMingePies · 24/12/2022 16:54

What other stuff has she done, out of interest?

boardinnn · 24/12/2022 16:56

To me it was a rubbing my nose in it kind of thing.

Yeah spiteful!! When you said you should have got me one she said oh next time .
no way did she just not think
She knew it was your birthday .
remembered it was your favourite perfume .
felt the need to text you about it and bought several but none for you .
there is a word for people like her and it begins with C !!

boardinnn · 24/12/2022 16:57

Another example is I love flavoured gin
She doesn't drink and always says
"I don't know how you drink -give me Diet Coke anyday.
Then a few weeks ago sent me a picture of a bottle of pink gin saying "my sister was selling these £8 a bottle so I grabbed one"

Gift yourself freedom from this strange person this Christmas. Please!

gettingolderandgrumpier · 24/12/2022 17:00

I’m not sure I believe her anyway what perfume is £45 down to £5 ?
and the pink gin at £8 where from ? It’s probably water or squash or totally a load of made up rubbish . So not only is she nasty she’s a liar stay well clear op

Ourlittleharmonica · 24/12/2022 17:02

She's not your friend. And Happy Birthday 🎁

OlympicProcrastinator · 24/12/2022 17:08

Even in the unlikely event she forgot, as soon as she realised it was your favourite she could have just given you hers. She’s not your friend.

nalabae · 24/12/2022 17:14

She sounds spiteful maybe distance yourself from her

Blondewithredlips · 24/12/2022 17:20

Spiteful bitch. Ignore her and get rid.

Ponoka7 · 24/12/2022 17:23

She's hitting back at you for some reason. She is a frenemy.

Was the picture of her holding the gin, or just a random photo of some pink gin?
If it was the latter then I think pps are right and she's a bit of a delusional fantasist who wants to be in your spotlight a lot.
My guess would be she hasn't even bought the perfume - unless there a photo of her with 4 bottles?

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 24/12/2022 17:33

Happy birthday. Your 'friend' is a knob.

boardinnn · 24/12/2022 17:34

Well put it this way she has some questionable family members ...and when they are around a lot of things fall off the backs of lorry's

gettingolderandgrumpier · 24/12/2022 17:39

So you’d be happy to have something stolen ?

Aprilx · 24/12/2022 17:41

I think she is making it up. Why would anyone be selling £45 bottles of perfume for £5.
