No Charles present. This was an event when they read out the Proclamation. He shouted "Who elected him"

You can hear his story here

The charging details are here

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/dec/23/man-charged-over-comments-during-king-charles-proclamation-ceremony

Thames Valley police said on Friday that Symon Hill, 45, of Oxford, had been charged with using threatening or abusive words, or disorderly behaviour.

AIBU to wonder how people can protest about having the Monarchy without getting arrested? Is shouting at an event too much? Should people just write a strongly lettered of protest?

This is not about the rights or wrong of a Monarchy. It's more about the right to protest versus the rights of people to watch a ceremony without hecklers.

Shocking. The right to free speech, my arse.

Brahumbug · 23/12/2022 21:06

Absolutely disgraceful, but what do you expect from our corrupt and oppressive police?

Lockheart · 23/12/2022 21:09

The article has very little information. Are we sure that's all he shouted?

There's a video

I am not sure which of the shouting is orders being shouted and which is the 'not my King" shout.

☹️

Free speech is having a very bad year.

This man gets arrested, yet if a transwoman wants to scream at and shove a woman who is quietly holding a womans’ rights placard, the police standing there will do nothing at all.

Interesting when the law gets enforced and when it doesn’t.

It's beyond ridiculous isn't it 😠
