To feel I want to hide in my room, away from kids?

Schools have broken up, build up to Christmas and I hear my kids fighting more than ever. Feeling drained with everything on on around me and just feel I want to lock myself in my room, away from all the noise.

Husband is at work and I'm feeling overwhelmed with it all.

I think alot are feeling like this. Including me. It’s tough when they fight and it all gets too much. My kids are driving me round the bend.

And the worst thing is being asked what I've been doing all day!!?? I mean wtf?! Trying to do a thousand things at once not being able to finish any of it off, and it's not because I can multitask!?

Kids calling "mum! Mum!"

Why do they start shouting mum the second they realise im not in the same room? Can't they figure stuff out themselves?

I found that if my children were revolting, that if I turned up and gave them jobs to do, like cleaning their room, putting their clothes away, putting a wash on, etc, they awfully quickly made the connection that getting my attention led to them getting chores to do. . . they got really rather quiet, really rather quickly.

Alternatively, I'd say, right, we'll go to the park/ get a hot chocolate at x time, provided I have been able to get jobs a, b, and c done by then, which will only happen if you occupy yourselves until them.

This is exactly me, kids same age and an older one in the mix who can either help or hinder depending on her mood at the time

Currently hiding in my room. Recovering from flu so I have an excuse. MiL just arrived and I'm making the most of the kids being distracted. Im also saying I don't want mil to get flu so staying up here.

I was sick this afternoon but I am feeling a bit better than I'm letting on.
