To feel drained by the thought of a new year?

Really struggled through this year but December has always been the month which is my aim as I absolutely love the Christmas rundown and all the shopping, meals out, and festivities. Already though I am dreading January and the thought of another year. Another year of worrying about money, work not being great and the anxiety it brings and the daily slog. Actually feel quite tearful about it.

Yes and no for me. I always have a kind of naive optimism that a new year is a fresh start, and ‘moving away’ from whatever shite the previous year brought me. It feels quite cleansing taking down all the decorations, waving goodbye to another year of austerity/global conflict/whatever and thinking ahead to what I want to achieve this year. I’m naive aren’t I!

I always begin a new year full of optimism. Anything that hasn't gone well in the previous year I can plan to change . I love the transition into spring and warmer weather .
I don't like Jan / feb cold and dark but plenty to look forward to .

Glad I’m not the only one who feels this. It can be very isolating. I tend to get to New Year’s Eve and think, gosh, another year survived. It feels like every year is a slog and the thought of a whole new one, empty and full of every unknown possibility is crushing. I do think that’s anxiety talking though. I wish I didn’t feel that way l, and that I could see it as full of potential promise and good things.

I look forward to the new year as Spring will soon be here

Maybe you could try to get a new job in the new year if it is causing you a lot of anxiety.

HollyHobbie12 · 21/12/2022 22:16

I just feel so depressed at the thought of work, bills, sleep for another year. Doesn't seem to be any joy or fun. I hate summer so can't even have that to look forward to. All just seems pretty bleak.

How are you feeling now op? Same shit, different year here.

I hope this doesn't sound patronising, but I really think it's all about mindset! I know life is hard but when I sucked into a pattern of negative thoughts there are things I do to get myself back out of it.
Read Manifest by Roxie Nafousi, it will explain so much better than I can!

Feeling anxious and last night was sad.
I hate my job but can't afford to retrain or leave. Too many things really.
I try and think positive but I am sick of fighting for good things to happen to be honest.
