To sit in my car somewhere quiet and scroll Mumsnet

Light hearted but I'm currently living with my Dad and Stepmum whilst my DH is elsewhere temporarily until after Christmas when we move into our next place and the house is so busy!

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and a couple of nights a week, I go and grab chippy or just a meal deal from sainsburys, park on a quiet road with my doors locked and sit for a couple of hours scrolling Mumsnet, catching up on emails or reading the latest show biz gossip for a couple hours and I've come to realise I love it and I don't want to give it up when I'm back living with DH 😂😂😂

Who'd have ever thought a car would turn into a little sanctuary 🤦🏻‍♀️

Have I completely lost it? 😅

YANBU, I love doing this

I used to do something similar. I lived in a house share and although it was okay, I just wanted a bit of my own space. I’d sit in the car park of a local service station and eat kfc!

Pinkbananas01 · 21/12/2022 19:07

Absolutely not, supermarket shopping takes a long time as far as DH & DC are concerned ;))

Whyjustwhy123 · 21/12/2022 19:09

Isn’t that what MN is for? Those stolen moments of nothingness. If this is your first born you’ll definitely appreciate it more in the future 🤣

I thought it was normal to have a bit of headspace in a car park before doing errands and sitting on your phone.

DH and I both seem to have an unfortunate habit of finding that a quick trip for milk takes twice as long when the DC are being hard work and we need a break. Neither of us have questioned the other about the obvious piss taking we both do at times. 😂

I have three kids, I often hide away to read mums net. You’ll be doing this when the baby is born and DH is watching the bubba!

monicagellerbing · 21/12/2022 19:16

You'll love it even more when you're doing it to escape the kid

This is so funny, I do this as well!

My kids are grown and my house is quiet, and I still do this!! I guess it's a change of scenery away from thinking I should be doing this or that..and the car is lovely and warm.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 21/12/2022 19:37

My mum can’t drive at the minute so I drove her to her book club in her camper van and scrolled mumsnet and had a nap. It was bliss! Obviously I hope she gets better and can drive again soon but I think I might always take her to book club from now on.

No kids for me but I love this. Once or twice a week I’ll stop for food on my way home from work and spend an hour catching up or watching a programme

BatshitBanshee · 21/12/2022 19:41

Congratulations, you're ready for parenthood 🤣 I deliberately make myself a v nice coffee while popping out to collect groceries.... Nice coffee and car naps (baby not me) saved my sanity sometimes.
