To keep my child home from school, scarlet fever outbreak

Just had a letter from public health, via my DS school letting me know that there are a number of cases of scarlet fever at his school. DH is being treated for encephalitis with steroids, which I have been told suppress his immune system. He is still very unwell but recovering at home. Can adults get scarlet fever? With just two days left of school I am thinking of just keeping DS home, but I am not sure if I am being unnecessarily over anxious....

It's less common for adults to get it due to our immune systems and prior exposure. But not impossible.

I wouldn't be that stressed about two days (before Xmas) either way so do whatever feels right.
