Had three months of various colds, viruses etc. then got this awful virus which came with fever, cough, cold symptoms, sinus pain, rash. Seemed to rally a bit over the weekend but now the cough is back so badly my throat is raw and I’m absolutely knackered because I can’t sleep.

DS and DH had it too but thankfully seem to be properly on the mend - DS started as conjunctivitis then got a fever then went on from there giving it to us all along the way.

im so gutted we have had to cancel all our fun plans over the last few months and now we are creeping closer to Christmas and I just feel worse and worse.

tried to phone GP today but couldn’t even get through to speak to anyone.

Me too. Mine has been ongoing since September when my cough started and I've still got the cough. I have 3 small kids with 1 under 2 and I've gone back to work after Mat leave so maybe stress who knows. I feel your pain. Hopefully we get better in the new year.

Keyansier · 20/12/2022 14:35

I feel bad for you OP with it being so close to Christmas. But yes you will get better though. You all will. I would be throwing back all the medicine and lozenges I could right now in the hope of recovering for the 25th! :)

I have had a little spate of this and it's been awful. Covid, very heavy unusual period, virus with awful cough and then a UTI

Take vitamin D, hot fresh lemon and honey drinks, ginger shots, oranges. Up protein a bit. Keep warm. Hot Epsom salt baths

It's all you can do really

Alisonscutehairflick · 20/12/2022 15:23

Thank you.
I know I’m being melodramatic and there are people a lot worse off than me but I feel so so fed up.

Same OP, it's rubbish!

Everyone in my house has been sick with various things for the last 4 months and we keep re- infecting each other. It's exhausting and feels never ending. The conjunctivitis was the worst but this sore throat is giving it a run for its money.

Alisonscutehairflick · 20/12/2022 16:04

@Shayisgreat sympathy! I was just tallying up everything we’ve had to cancel in the last 3-4 months, I don’t know why, it’s made me feel even more depressed than I already was

we were supposed to be going out to dinner tonight and by the weekend it looked like we would make it but my symptoms have come back with a vengeance so I’ve had to cancel - feel so bad as DH was so looking forward to it

This is me! We’re day 10 of covid all 4 of us, feel like it keeps luring me into a false sense of security where I feel slightly better then feel like I’ve been hit by a bus again!

Missed out on so many planned activities (and lost the money too) got all the cheese and wine just asking to be eaten but no one’s managed more than toast in over a week! So fed up!

Alisonscutehairflick · 20/12/2022 19:51

It sucks doesn’t it @Prinnny hope you all feel better soon.
my cough has come back horrendously and now Im panicking that I’ve picked something new up and DS and DH are going to get it just in time for Christmas .

im so behind with everything as well, haven’t wrapped a single present and still got some to order!

Okay, I need a cure for this cough. I sound awful and it’s making my throat so sore.

I’ve tried so many things and nothing works!

I can help with the sleep? There is an antihistamine called Actifed which I accidentally discovered both 1) dries up a runny nose and 2) completely zonks you out. I have it in the cupboard for when I am in that phase of miserable cold and take it just before I go to bed and BOOM asleep.

Sorry op. Try going to bed silly early for the next few nights - sleep really is the best thing for recovery. And buy the high dose sprayable vitamin D, it’s necessary for a working immune system and everyone’s levels are in the toilet right now.

TwoShades1 · 20/12/2022 21:10

I’ve had 19 separate illnesses this year. We haven’t been able to do anything including holidays. Things have eased up a little in the last couple of months so hoping next year might be better.

Alisonscutehairflick · 20/12/2022 21:20

@pandarific thats really interesting is it on the shelf or over the counter? I don’t even seem to be that snotty any more just this horrendous cough

@TwoShades1 DS (nearly three) has been like this. It’s been a nightmare since about April. I think the longest break we had was three or four weeks and even then he still had a bit of a cough throughout. Hope next year is better for you

It’s so frustrating isn’t it, fed up of bug after bug!

I8toys · 30/12/2022 19:22

God I hear you. Nearly 2 weeks now. And still coughing and snotty. Conjunctivitis in both eyes, mouth ulcers. I feel like my immune system is trying to reboot itself.

Thepeopleversuswork · 30/12/2022 19:49

Same. Ten days in and feeling utterly awful still. Every time I try to do something small and manageable (like go to the pharmacy and back) it wipes me out for days.

glasshole · 30/12/2022 21:26

I get stuck on the 30th November and am still not right. Had enough.
