Three years ago my ds1, who was 45 at the time, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. After many months of worry he had the cancerous kidney removed and he now has scans once a year and is completely clear.
Four weeks ago ds2, who is 46 had blood in his urine and he has since had a cystoscopy and then last Friday he had a ct scan and this morning he was called to say that he needs an mri scan as soon as possible which looks like something has been seen on the scan.

Ds2 was told when he saw the doctor for the cystoscopy that because his brother has had kidney cancer he was 40% more likely to get it. He has the mri scan on the 28th December and doesn’t want the wider family, who we will see over Christmas, to know. I am so worried for him but need to reassure him but I am not sure how we will get through the next couple of weeks.

I am hoping that if it is cancer that if he has cancer it has been found early. I could do with positive vibes.

Hand hold for you.

i will say a prayer that it’s something innocent and that if it is something more serious then it has been caught early and is treatable

Hand hold for you op, what a worry.

Morechocmorechoc · 19/12/2022 20:56

That sounds scary. Just remember ds1 is ok and ds 2 will be as well

Thanks for all your supportive messages. We have a 5 year old Dgs who will be with us Christmas Day so we won’t have time to think so I can keep worry in the background.

Hi OP, hope you don’t mind me following up , but what was the outcome of the diagnosis? A family member is going through the same, CT followed by MRI to look at kidneys. We haven’t been given any info on findings or why the MRI was ordered. So worried and looking to learn more from the experience of others about the diagnostic process.
hope your DS is ok xx
