We are on a pre payment meter. Its topped up regularly and we always make a note of how much is on there and what we have added on. It is topped up weekly or fortnightly. Yet we keep getting letters from EON saying we havent topped up and are we ok 🙄 And we arent the only ones.

Friend of mine topped up his pre payment meters a few weeks back and the amounts on them havent moved or changed despite him obviously using the gas and electric so he cant keep track of exactly what has been used and when it will need topping up later on. Obviously people are worrying they will suddenly lose their electric or gas. Has anyone else on here had this and do you know what is going on.

Re. the latter Is it some rebate or something because both his meters cant be faulty.

No idea about the letters you're getting but your friend really needs to get in touch with them.

Just call Eon, their customer service is okay most of the time.

The IHD for my Smart meter failed to update after my fix ended, they had to push it through manually. Upon which it tripled but at least it was accurate.

I don’t usually have any problems with Eon but the past couple of months have been a nightmare. I’m not on a pre payment meter but I’ve been trying to contact them to discuss something and I just can’t get through. I’ve rang hundreds of times, emailed multiple times, even put in an official complaint and not heard anything back from them.

Its now resolved It seems to have been a glitch which they have fixed from their end

Just spoke to my friend on the phone. When he phoned EON initially they tried to say he has no money on his meter despite him having £190 on electric and £175 on gas and started saying to him if he runs out he would have to call them He TOLD them he had put all this money on and after the phone call the amount seems to be going down like it should. But they refused to confirm that he wouldnt run out of electric over Christmas and also cant explain why he and other customers (including myself) are getting letters saying they havent topped up for a while when they have.

Tbf, from Eons point of view, they can't confirm he won't run out of electricity before xmas - there's nothing that will accurately 100% tell them in advance what he's going to use.

They might agree it's unlikely, and that to get through that amount of credit in a short space of time would mean he's suddenly started charging fifty electric cars or something, but there's no way they can see into the future.

Pothoswithasparkle · 20/12/2022 14:05

I get same from EDF. Tbh I did not top up for 6 months before (keeping old unit price), but even now after topping up they messaged...
