My cat hasn't come home....

My cat hasn't come home and there was a report that a cat similar to mine had been hit by a car. We've been out looking but can't find the cat to see if it is ours.

AIBU to be sobbing at the thought he could be out there alone and injured?

Have you asked the neighbours? People might have been opening sheds up for spades etc to clear snow or ice and he s got shut in by accident if he s found a warm spot?

Put his litter tray outside if he uses one. Cats will find their way back by smell if disoriented.

I know the feeling so well. My girl hates the cold and won't go out much in it but I have been up all night many times in the summer when she s gone for ages.

Yes have been in contact with neighbours, so far no joy. A local lady was out looking this morning.

@AlwaysAuntie that's frustrating, maybe try and keep the post going incase there's anyone else dog walking. I don't think it is your moggy but it will be somebody's so hopefully the locals can help 🧡

I've posted on all the local fb pages (with one or two exceptions my neighbours all post in the group), plus the missing pet ones and contacted vets. At least one neighbour has gone down her garden, checking their shed etc.

Fingers crossed for you OP.

Have you been to the place where the lady reported a cat being hit?

AngelDelightUK · 17/12/2022 11:48

Any news? I hope he’s found soon

nolongersurprised · 17/12/2022 12:02

one of our cars went missing for over 6 weeks, then turned up skinny but well.

Our tortie cat was out overnight about a month ago which is very unlike her - she normally has a big of a stroll around twice day and spends the rest of it inside - and I didn’t sleep at all, and searched all night.

I made my oldest daughter, who is the cat’s favourite, take off her freshly worn PJ top and we hung it on the balcony. I don’t know if worked, but she emerged 20 min later from where she’d been hiding. She did have an injured leg from possibly being trapped in a fence and must have hidden out of friend that. It wasn’t as bad as we thought, not broken, didn’t need stitches, and she’s asleep at my feet now.

I hope your car comes home soon

nolongersurprised · 17/12/2022 12:03

*hidden out of fright, not friend that

MyCatsSlave · 17/12/2022 12:54

I hope he’s safely back home with you very soon. Mine went missing for three days in March, I put her litter tray and the contents of the vacuum cleaner in the garden and a pyjama top I had worn on the line so she would be able to smell home.

gourmetperle · 17/12/2022 15:13

Oh no, hugs to you - we have been in a similar situation before and it really is horrible. I would yell your cat's name outside as much as you can, they can hear from so much further away than us. Crossing everything for a safe return x

Dontsayyouloveme · 18/12/2022 21:43

Any news on your boy OP? X x

ooherrmissus14 · 26/12/2022 15:44

Any update OP?

Sadly his body was found near our house 😢 We were able to get him cremated and are picking his ashes after the Christmas holiday.

Sorry to hear about your cat. A cat of ours disappeared nearly 25 years ago and we never found him. It's very upsetting -pets are definitely part of the family

Letthekidsplay · 26/12/2022 19:56

Oh no I’m so sorry for your loss

PropertyGeek525 · 26/12/2022 20:03

Very sorry for your loss 😢

NotTerfNorCis · 26/12/2022 20:20

Sorry to hear about the sad outcome. A cat can be truly a member of the family.

ooherrmissus14 · 26/12/2022 21:15

Oh no.... I'm so sorry - you must be devastated ☹️

AlwaysAuntie · 26/12/2022 21:47

Thank you, I am utterly devastated. He was such a lovely boy, loved everyone and everyone loved him. He wasn't the brightest of cats and we had a lot of laughs with his antics.
