For x mas?

handmade x mas ornaments from dcs at one of those glaze your own pottery places, baubles that have a hand or foot print sometimes made into a picture. Dc1 desperately wanted to do it, it’s a handprint, name (transfer of handwritten, they’re 3 so joined dots) and age. So it’s one from 3 year old and one from baby. They weren’t cheap, and when I saw them they looked sentimental and the kind of thing you’d hold on to. Personally I’d love it. But my dm is notoriously hard to buy for and a friend said it sounds naff… does it sound naff, I’m worried now lol?

we’ve got a fragrance and chocolates for her too but this was the gift from the dcs

does it sound ok?

I am a grandparent and I would treasure those. ☺️

Flamingogirl08 · 15/12/2022 10:42

My Mum and MIL would both love that

Trumpton · 15/12/2022 10:44

I absolutely treasure mine. They are put away carefully each year and hung on the tree with love.

VainAbigail · 15/12/2022 10:44

If I was a grandparent (which I’m not, yet) I’d like these. My mother, however (who is a grandmother) wouldn’t!!!! She’d see them as ‘tat’ 🙄.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 15/12/2022 10:47

I have lots of this sort of thing and the laminated hand foot and foot print poems all lovingly treasured.

Celticdawn5 · 15/12/2022 10:47

I’d be very happy with those.

Bigdamnheroes · 15/12/2022 10:49

I'm not a grandparent but I'd love that too.

UseAMuckySock · 15/12/2022 10:49

I would adore this and would treasure it forever. (I’m a grandparent)

romany4 · 15/12/2022 10:51

I'm a nanna and would love that.
I still have little tree ornaments my son made me at school, 25 years ago.
I treasure them

CallMeBubbleDarling · 15/12/2022 10:54

I did this for my mum when DS was a baby. Six years on it still gets hung on her tree and she is also very hard to buy for

Aposterhasnoname · 15/12/2022 10:58

I’d love that

Cherrysoup · 15/12/2022 11:04

Totally depends on the individual. I’m a major fussarse so might not like the colour/design, but I’d appreciate the idea.

My eldest when with the most festive of all creatures….

…. the mermaid

I know it’s not Christmassy but she’s obsessed with them so it’s very much who she is right now haha

I'm a Grandma and if I received that from my Grandson I would CHERISH it! Now I'm hoping I get something like that this year

Riddlemethisplz · 15/12/2022 11:08

my mum is difficult, it’s so hard to say, she’s been known to strop when she’s not bought the right thing, my MIL, not a sentimental bone in her body, doesn’t even have baby pics of DH, genuinely not arsed. She has a few of the dcs on her phone but she’s not the type for photoframes

SkylightSkylight · 15/12/2022 11:10

I'd say a hit for your mum & a miss for your mil.

id love it, but then I'm a massively sentimental twat!! 😂

Phos · 15/12/2022 11:23

Of course it sounds naff, it's meant to sound naff but it's different when it holds sentimental value. I'm nowhere near being a gran but it sounds lovely. My mum would like it.

Hadjab · 15/12/2022 11:28

I don't like that sort of stuff - it's up there with Live, Laugh, Love plaques - but I'd love them, and actually put them on my very pristine and symmetrical tree, as they are from my grandkids.

KezzabellaB · 15/12/2022 11:37

I'm a proud Nana of two and would LOVE something like this from my DGC 😊

1001Daffodils · 15/12/2022 11:57

My mother would absolutely love that.

mondaytosunday · 15/12/2022 12:04

Well I could find a place for them, but not really my thing. I'd treasure a really lovely photo in a good quality frame (I don't mean a stiff posed studio pic, but a spontaneous one).

MIL won’t be in receipt of them haha, she’s got a scarf

Yes. I've got baubles and decorations made by my now adult DC and DGC. All very much loved and treasured

HowVeryBizarre · 15/12/2022 12:09

I would love them, precious memories as by the time you are a grandparent you know how quickly kids grow up. I am hoping that because my DIL kind of evaded the question when I asked if I could buy one of the photos my GD had taken at nursery that it means I will get one for Christmas.
