How to use this half hour/ hour to my advantage

I'm going to have an extra half hour/ hour each morning before work. I have to be in work by 9.30 at the latest. I can drop my DC's to school at 8.15. I really want to use this time and not waste it!
I also don't have much money.
I can't start work earlier.
I really want to start exercising more. Trouble is, getting to the gym will take almost all my time, whilst work and school are in the same direction. Then showering time?
I'm not really a jogger but that's an option.
Go home and do an exercise dvd? That's free but would I do it, or would I just sit on my phone, eat biscuits and drink coffee?
Or could I do anything else useful?

Go for a walk?

ColdHandsHotHead · 10/12/2022 21:11

I'd do personal grooming. Mani, pedi, eyebrows, shaving, a different thing each day. Maybe ten minutes of exercises too?

Moraxella · 10/12/2022 21:14

What a gift! I’d go for a run (couch to 5k then 5ks 2/3x a week) or do a Joe wicks hiit session instead, then the other days do pilates or yoga or strength. Just do it, once you open that front door go straight to it then cup of tea after.

NuffSaidSam · 10/12/2022 21:15

Couch to 5k and then just chill and have a cup of coffee on your rest days. Best of both worlds!

BakedTattie · 10/12/2022 21:16

Definitely walk.

AngelaBrazilNuts · 10/12/2022 21:18

Get a book-physical or audio-out of the library and read peacefully for half an hour.
At normal reading rate, you could get through two books a month.

wotsinthebox · 10/12/2022 21:18

Sit and have a cup of tea. No screens.

Unbridezilla · 10/12/2022 21:22

Are there showers at work? If so, do a walk workout (some inspiration on youtube) after dropping the kids off. Then drive to work and shower / change there.

If there is a quiet park close by, and you don't care about being spotted, you could always do a standing strength workout too (squats, lunges etc).

I'd probably choose 2/3 of the days per week for exercise then other things on the remaining. One for admin and one for something relaxing, eg reading/audio book or self care, whatever your bag is

10 minute walk then a yoga with adriene session. Fab start to the day!

youhavenoshameonyourface · 10/12/2022 21:24

walk to work?

coodawoodashooda · 10/12/2022 21:29

I'd drop the kids later and have the time then.

girlmom21 · 10/12/2022 21:40

Walk or cycle to work.

PingPongMerrilyWithPie · 10/12/2022 21:45

Go for a walk with a podcast

Joannagorilla · 10/12/2022 21:50

Do you walk to school?

NoelNoNoel · 10/12/2022 21:53

Try a HITT DVD workout, they are good if you don’t have much time.

Stichintime · 10/12/2022 21:55

Home for a coffee and power nap.
