'Enhanced review indicated before granting access to own health record'.

Anyone know what this means? I'm quite worried as it seems to imply things might be (either now or in future) kept from me...

Do you have mental health issues?

Do you have mental health issues?

Mild depression, and I did wonder if it was connected to that. It's always been pretty well under control though...

I am assuming I have this on my record too. Any referral letters or assessment reports etc get sent straight to my GP and I am never copied in. It is for my mental health, as reading about myself can send me spiralling. I am aware of this, and agree with it too.

It means that a clinician needs to review your notes to make sure it wouldn't cause you harm or put you at risk to have full access to your record. It's been done automatically for patients who have any mental health issues, dementia, child safeguarding, domestic violence etc codes. Once a clinician has checked it (this will take a while) then if all good, you should be able to see everything.

That’s all it is - it’s a coding thing and they will absolutely take your level of illness into account.

DH and I both have it on our records too and neither of us has any of these things...

Thanks for the responses all, it's helpful. I'll give it some time and see what happens.

Some surgeries have put this on everyone’s records. There was a plan to automatically allow anyone without this code full online access to all full records, unless they have this code. It was all a rush with not much time to review everyone’s records, or to apply any restrictions, so the code was added to everyone as a safety measure. Then the plan was delayed…
